    Statism is a religion

Well, I'm glad you admit that the Constitution is insufficient to restrain legislators. I, also, would like to see them held accountable for their crimes. The problem is that no institution that would ensure that has been described. Presumably, judges would hold them to account, but it doesn't...

    Statism is a religion

The incentive to use one's office for personal gain is greater than the incentive to obey the Constitution. It doesn't matter what laws you write to restrain legislators because those who comprise a legislative body will only apply law in ways that are beneficial to each of them. There is no way...

    Statism is a religion

No, it couldn't. The OP lists three beliefs that are necessary and particular to statism and demonstrably false, one of which never even had a chance of being true. I didn't even stress the fervency of the commitment, you just inferred that from the willingness of statists to live with the...

Abortion is equal to Stand Your Ground[344]

You're arguing against the analogy, but you were right. It's not a good analogy. It's insufficient. The reality is that the person didn't get the choice to be in your house or not. You put her there, irrespective of her will, then you say that, because she's there, you have a right to kill her...

    Statism is a religion

That's not what the OP says. It says that statists believe in things that do not exist. Additionally, the religious reverence that statists reserve for the state and the rituals and ceremonies they hold in its honor were pointed out later. None of it is true of the antistatist in any sense.

    Statism is a religion

I didn't say anything about motives. The OP is about what one must believe in order to be a statist. It reflects on the nature of those beliefs, and identifies them as religious and superstitious. If they happen to be your beliefs, and you don't like the fact that you hold religious and...

    Statism is a religion

What demonization? Maybe you should try not reading something as a pejorative that isn't written as one.

    Statism is a religion

I'm sorry you feel that way. The belief that the state is necessary entails the presupposition that people would not, otherwise, run their lives in the way in which the state is intended to coerce them into by legislation; i.e., that they cannot be trusted to run their own lives, but that a...

    Then yes.

    Statism is a religion

That depends on how you define anarchist. I think, linguistically, the term was needed by antistatists to denote people who are not antistatists, so the definition is correct. I agree, though, that it's insufficient as a description.

    Statism is a religion

Really? I see several definitions of religion, including these: Why is yours special? There is a distinction between religion and organized religion, but it wouldn't do much to make it because the state is quite organized. You even have rituals and ceremonies, observances, and membership...

    Statism is a religion

I don't find either very common. There are things that even the most devout and faithful statist would not dream of entrusting to government, such as everything in his own life, so nobody really wants an actually limitless government. I don't know any antistatists who believe that every problem...
