My View on the "Debt" Ceiling

CalGun, the credit card company, in this case lets say an investor who has money in bonds, can't just come and "demand" his money plus interest all at once, we pay interest on the debts and after so many years the bond matures and you get your money back.

My View on the "Debt" Ceiling

Yes and if lenders believed that we wouldn't be able to pay them back then they would not be lending to us at historically low rates, but if we threatened to limit the debt ceiling then the rates may go up and we will have a problem.

My View on the "Debt" Ceiling

I don't feel any "right" my point is even though we are borrowing a lot the creditors still are lending us money at low rates!! If we saw interest rates rising every year then yes we would have a major problem on our hands.

    When Will Democrats Wake Up???

Not blaming Bush, blaming the Republicans in congress who are against raising the debt ceiling which lowers our credit rating because of uncertainty. Also, you are comparing the USA to Greece??? Greece was borrowing more than lenders knew they could pay back. We have the worlds largest economy...

    When Will Democrats Wake Up???

Born Free,.... obviously the spending hasn't increased dramatically, so the debt increased due to lack of tax revenue.... maybe because of some sort of recession we had? Also realize that the national debt was worse after WW2, and I don't think any of us "paid" it back. You need to realize...

Obama and Holder give the green light on legal pot.

Let's go back to Prohibition!!!!!! That'll get the drunk drivers off the road right? It's harder for someone underage to get alcohol, because it's legal, than weed. There is no alcohol dealers on the streets really; if legalizing takes the drugs from the dealers and into the hands of...

What Happens to GDP when you Remove Government Spending?

That is considering if the government did not spend than the private sector would.... During a recession businesses and the average folk are spending less, therefore the government is stimulating by spending money we borrow from investors, so lets assume pile "A" would of sat in off shore bank...

My View on the "Debt" Ceiling

Picture this.... You have a decent paying job and a nice family with 2 kids and a wife. You just bought a new house which was $500,000 and a car for $30,000. You also can afford to use a credit card to buy things like groceries and clothes for your kids, and your wife is able to also. You are...

ObamaCare cost is too unbearable [W:271]

Re: ObamaCare cost is too unbearable Yeah too bad there wasn't health insurance in 1788... then we could of maybe had a specific answer to the Constitutionality of government run health care. I think the ACA would work if the healthiest of us would get insurance. Without this individual...

    When Will Democrats Wake Up???

I read an article that showed most people favored the specific aspects of the law, but opposed the law overall. Seems to be the opposition has done a great job in giving the ACA a bad name.... Anyway it is time for a single payer system, but lets just hope they don't shut down the government...

2013 spending, budget, and monetary policy discussion

I agree with you my point was a very basic one, but you get the idea of it, Government spending can be used in more productive ways.

2013 spending, budget, and monetary policy discussion

We are somewhat on the same page!!! I work for a flooring company and most of the big jobs are public works (school, va hospital). This kind of spending is the kind that sparks economic growth it creates literally hundreds of jobs, and it actually goes to good cause (new school, better hospital...

2013 spending, budget, and monetary policy discussion

As long as we can keep inflation down then the debt isn't the main issue. If we were spending money in more productive ways (Infrastructure, insert idea here) then we should be seeing some faster growth and even faster debt reduction. The increase in employment should come before inflation...
