    Just read the link. It spells out in detail two different plans to exploit Iraq's oil. And recall that some in the Bush admin claimed that the invasion would pay for itself because of the oil. Anyone who claims that the Iraq wars were not about oil is obviously talking nonsense.

    We tried to take the oil. There was a plan to turn over oil production in Iraq to US oil companies, but it was quickly shot down as very obvious exploitation of the war for US corporate profit. And I expect the US oil companies realized they could not operate there given the post-invasion chaos.
