Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, draft opinion shows

I'm not sure if Roe v Wade was decided correctly, but I don't think it's a good look for the SCOTUS to reverse 50 years of settled law. The last 6 years have seen hyper-politicization of the court, which has been disappointing to see. Personally, this issue doesn't really impact me because I...

G.O.P. Declares Jan. 6 Attack ‘Legitimate Political Discourse’

The RNC's embrace of Antifa's Jan 6th Capitol rioting is an unexpected change from their typical pro-cop, anti-crime, anti-antifa attitudes.

Should Presidents engage in identity politics when selecting a Supreme Court Justice?

Hmm, maybe we should talk about race + gender instead of just race Current SCOTUS makeup: 5/9 are white men (55%) - vastly over-represented (~30% of population) 1/9 is a black man (11%) - over-represented (~7% of population) 2/9 are white women (22%) - under-represented (~30% of population) 1/9...

    It's Begun

Mmm, yes. Globalism is so closely linked to wearing a mask. Makes perfect sense. Or, maybe people are wearing them to try to reduce the spread of a highly virulent disease that kills a lot of old people and causes long term side effects among people of all ages.

    It's Begun

It's fascinating that you perceive the masking issue to be an American issue rather than a Coronavirus issue, despite virtually every country in the world imposing mask laws.

How likely is it that Roe v. Wade will be overturned by next year?

I voted "somewhat likely", with maybe a 40% chance of it happening. I can imagine the court weakening abortion protections without completely eliminating them. I think the TX law (heartbeat abortion ban) is less likely to fly than some less strict laws. 6 weeks means the only legal form of...

Question for California residents, what keeps you there?

I live in CA, for me the things keeping me here: 1. Family - virtually all of my family lives within a 5-6 hour drive 2. Jobs - I work in tech, and silicon valley is a hub for tech jobs 3. Salary - I make $140k at age 28. I doubt there are many places I can move to and maintain that kind of...

Why are McConnell and McCarthy blocking the bipartisan commission on the Capitol Insurrection?

None of the options fit. It's almost certainly for the reason they say: it's not good for them politically.

Can Republicans Win Elections Without Cheating and Voter Suppression?

Republicans win elections all the time without needing to cheat / block voting access. I don't understand why people voted no on this.

Ron Johnson says he might have been concerned for safety had Capitol rioters been BLM and Antifa

Everyone knows what Mike Pence looks like. Most people cannot identify Ron Johnson. This is relevant because Trump told people that Mike Pence was standing between Trump and victory. He did not identify Ayanna Presley as standing between himself and victory, and yet she still feared for her life.

Ron Johnson says he might have been concerned for safety had Capitol rioters been BLM and Antifa

I don't think Ron Johnson is racist. He just thinks Trump's most fervent supporters are racist and that they don't have any interest in lynching white senators.

62 percent say unvaccinated people shouldn't be able to fly in airplanes

This is not what "94% efficacy" means. Efficacy is a measure of how effective a vaccine is at reducing total infections. The difference is that 100% of people gain VERY HIGH protection to coronavirus with the vaccine, but also that vaccinated people are not completely immune. Similarly, some...

    Gay: Happy, Stupid, or Homosexual

I thought gay meant "lame" more than "stupid". I don't think the "happy" definition of gay is commonly used any more - although it certainly can be used that way.
