For the first time ever, I really am afraid this election

I agree with opening post. "Read my lips, no new taxes" is part of why Bush Sr. lost re-election. Why isn't it the same for Obama? Obamacare raises taxes on those making less than 250K and that's what he promised NOT to do.

    Sign at Wegmans draws attention

That's not being selfish. Impatient, perhaps, but not selfish. I don't understand what point you're making re. the 10 items or less line. Sometimes they'll call you over to that line if the other lines are crowded. It's not expected, though, unless you have 10 items or less.

    Sign at Wegmans draws attention

I would leave. They would lose a lot of customers because who wants to wait in a crowded line if there is a shorter line? That's not being selfish, btw.

    Sign at Wegmans draws attention

What if the other lines are full? Sorry, but I want to check out as fast as possible, not stand around all day waiting. I wonder how the store will handle customers who go through her line with the "banned" items.

    EPA to ban affordable inhalers?

I've been following this issue for years, ever since my first personal experience with the new FHA inhalers, which was not a good one. If you don't even know the basics ie. the Clinton Admin link then you're the one who needs to do "more research". It was under the 9th meeting of the Montreal...

    EPA to ban affordable inhalers?

This has already been discussed in this thread but asthma medications were exempt from the ban. It was Clinton who removed the exemption.

    EPA to ban affordable inhalers?

There was no need to ban CFC inhalers. Their emissions were minimal. Banning them has no effect on skin cancer. I disagree that they waited until a suitable replacement was developed. The new inhalers don't work as well. Saying "Pharma" profits so it's not the government is a smokescreen. It...

    EPA to ban affordable inhalers?

CFC inhalers were exempt from the ban. It was Clinton who removed the exemption. The ban went into effect, at least on RX albuterol inhalers, on 1-1-09, although they started phasing the new inhalers in before that. People were hoarding the old ones like crazy. It was very upsetting because...

Anders Behring Breivik Identified As Suspect In Norway Shooting

Well, I agree we should wait til the investigation is complete but I wouldn't say it was wrong for people to initially suspect Jihadists. After the initial Oslo blast ‘Helpers of the Global Jihad’ posted a message claiming it was only the beginning of the retaliation (over earlier cartoons...

No 'him' or 'her'; preschool fights gender bias

You keep trying to expand this past Sweden to make your point. My point is that this school is an extreme reaction to a "problem" that they haven't convincingly argued exists in modern-day Sweden. It's based on faulty logic. Here's more of the story: Egalia is unusual even for Sweden. Staff...

No 'him' or 'her'; preschool fights gender bias

If you say so. That's down to individual families. Some are worse than others. This leads into the argument of whether it's the government's job to "correct" what is happening at home. In homes where families aren't teaching their sons to be "rough" wouldn't this be an overcorrection? My...

No 'him' or 'her'; preschool fights gender bias

STOCKHOLM – At the "Egalia" preschool, staff avoid using words like "him" or "her" and address the 33 kids as "friends" rather than girls and boys. From the color and placement of toys to the choice of books, every detail has been carefully planned to make sure the children don't fall into...

'Genderless' Child Ignites Firestorm in Canada

Storm's oldest brother wears a pink dress and long pigtails and the 2nd oldest brother is often mistaken for a girl. I would call that "influence".

'Genderless' Child Ignites Firestorm in Canada

No one is even allowed to know the sex of this baby vs. buying gender neutral toys, clothes etc. for your little BOY or GIRL.

'Genderless' Child Ignites Firestorm in Canada

I actually learned a bit about this in Psych 101. The extremes of the gender roles tend to be less extreme in children raised gender-neutral. This doesn't seem to impair their functioning or mental state, nor does it seem to encourage transgenderism. It just moves men and women a little closer...
