    3% wealth tax on billionaires

But then that will just shift the entire tax burden to state governments, and we will be having the exact same debate about state income taxes.

    3% wealth tax on billionaires

So the average income is like $60,000. So depending on how to make that progressive scale, that will probably be an effective rate near 1% for most people. The government will have a 2 trillion dollar deficit in the near future, and the income tax has a 2 trillion dollar revenue, that you want...

    What about for poor people?

    3% wealth tax on billionaires

Remember what I said about taxes individually being unfair but thats ok. The income tax does hit the rich a lot harder, but other taxes tend to hit poor people a lot harder, so it all balances out. Another point is that income inequality has grown a lot so the rich are paying a lot more of the...

How should reparations to descendants of American slaves be apportioned?

I'd say provide the money to anyone who has been a slave.

Yes, actually taking capital gains and income at the same rate sounds reasonable to me. In addition to closing loopholes for the wealthy, that might help close the deficit a bit.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises Will Shelve 6 Books, Citing 'Hurtful' Portrayals

We can't ban historical books simply because they don't meet modern standards. We should do what Disney does and provide content warnings, or possibly redraw offensive portions.

    3% wealth tax on billionaires

I support closing tax breaks for the wealthy. But working class people need those tax decisions to make ends meet. When you say taxing income equally are you planning to raise taxes on the poor, to lower them on the rich, or lower taxes for the rich to the level the poor pay?

If you are tired of the myths and superstitions of religion......

I'm not a humanist, but I'm an atheist. I lack belief in supernatural beings. I can't be absolutely certain they don't exist. Wrong, in addition to matter, there is also space, time, energy, and possibly many other dimensions that string theory hypothesizes. Wrong, many insights have been...

    Unemployment, 300 not 400

I'm ok with extended unemployment benefits as longs as its capped to be at most 90% of their previous salary.

One compromise is to enact a tax increase that takes effect in a few years. I'd support that. I agree that a wealth tax is a bad idea. Income taxes work pretty well.

I suggest that they pass a tax increase that takes effect in a few years.

What future amendments do you want?

I'd also add term limits to the Supreme Court. For the electoral college, I'd require that states give out their electors as a percent of the state won. I'd add an amendment banning gerrymandering. Another amendment requiring 60 senate votes for any bill that increases the deficit or raises taxes.

It is bad economics, but its is good politics. Democrats may not have another opportunity to raise taxes for another decade or more. A couple other examples of poorly timed bills were Obamacare, Dodd Frank, and Trump's tax cuts. But its understandable because they had a narrow window to fulfill...

    3% wealth tax on billionaires

Many millionaires would rather take the one time 40% hit than lose 3% every year. Also millionaires from other countries definitely won't move here. I just don't see why we need yet another tax when we can just raise the income tax.
