Tesla to lay off more than 10% of its staff, Electrek reports

If they ever get carbon capture figured out it could be part of the mix. We certainly have enough of it.

Google has fired 28 employees over their participation in a 10-hour sit-in at the search giant’s offices in New York and Sunnyvale

Once upon a time you practically had to be a genius to get hired there. Apparently now they’ll take anybody.

I guess they were under the mistaken impression they were still in college.

Japan records a trade deficit for the third straight fiscal year despite recovering exports

https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/japan-records-trade-deficit-straight-fiscal-year-despite-109335538 By itself, a 5.89 trillion yen trade deficit isn’t a fatal problem. I mean, the U.S. has run a deficit in its current account and been a net debtor nation for years. But Japan’s...

US to grow at double the rate of G7 peers this year, says IMF

What middle class? The jobs those people depended on moved to China two decades ago. We’ve evolved into a banana republic, with two classes of people. There are the haves, who own assets, and the have-nots, who may own a bicycle but pay the haves rents, royalties, and licensing fees and depend...

    More guns = More death?

This little Chinese lady scored a winning three pointer at the buzzer against David Hogg on that one: In Texas they’d say she hogtied ‘im.

Supporting Trump says more about you than it does about him.

What if you don’t support Trump but held your nose and voted for him twice because the alternative was worse?

Sen. Tom Cotton encourages drivers to drag Gaza cease-fire protesters from blocked roads

Notice where this happened: Here is Mississippi, law enforcement officers always attempt to keep at least one lane of traffic open at all times for emergency vehicles or in case someone is having a medical emergency and needs to get to an ER quickly. So we don’t have this issue with protesters...

Why your rich friend Venmo requests you for $4: People with more money ‘struggle with generosity,’ expert says

This article was originally published by a reporter for CNBC for that channel’s website. Microsoft just provided access through its latest iteration of a news aggregator, Start, which increasingly seems to be becoming a principle source of “free” news content. It’s just a question of time before...

Why your rich friend Venmo requests you for $4: People with more money ‘struggle with generosity,’ expert says

I tend to choose my friends carefully, but my wife has a knack for attracting people who think we run a family bank. Whenever they experience a personal crisis, she’s usually the first person they come to to request a grant or interest-free loan. Even though these “friends” often stiff her and...

Why your rich friend Venmo requests you for $4: People with more money ‘struggle with generosity,’ expert says

As long as you enjoy it, can afford it, and think you’re getting added value for the tomatoes and onions, there is nothing wrong with that. What I object to are people thinking they’re entitled to free $9 bagels who get upset when “friends” who make more money than they do request they pay...

Why your rich friend Venmo requests you for $4: People with more money ‘struggle with generosity,’ expert says

Where? Canada? Mars? Because even Starbucks doesn’t charge that. I know WinnDixie doesn’t. I just ate one with cream cheese topped with cinnamon this morning.😆

Why your rich friend Venmo requests you for $4: People with more money ‘struggle with generosity,’ expert says

That is absolutely right. If you make an agreement to split a tab on Venmo but then attempt, in essence, to qualify it based an unstated sense of entitlement, I can start to understand why some rich people would probably prefer keeping company with people where this doesn’t become an issue.
