Walgreens closing 5 San Francisco stores due to 'organized retail crime'
“Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that,” said Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso. “Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average. During this time to help combat this issue, we increased our investments in security measures in stores across the city to 46 times our chain average in an effort to provide a safe environment.”

The exodus continues in failed Democrat strongholds.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Good luck to you!

It is a real shame that a disproportionate number of bad people give a negative reputation to a whole group.

That is why big chains are reluctant to have businesses in certain neighborhoods.

I think that such areas are called food deserts.

I do not foresee any improvement in the situation.

I know that some truly sincere people feel that those looters engage in such brazen behavior because they are poor.

Many people (including me) respectfully disagree and feel the reason is simple: Those looters are just very bad entities.

You act like it's such a blessing to have retail giants in your neighborhood selling overpriced product, employing underpaid workers, and undercutting small and local businesses.

Well Elon Musk is getting the hell out of California. So there is that. It seems the socialist paradise isn’t really business friendly, even to an electric car company.

He employs 7000 people here. Who cares where Musk puts his headquarters? Obviously, California lost the bid. Companies move all the time. Why do you care?

Literally good riddance. Screw Walgreens. They are the worst pharmacy.
They're obviously so incompetent that 5 stores got ripped off. If you can't catch the crooks, fire your security team, don't close the stores. And how do we know this is the actual reason?

The State of California really needs to lower the threshold from $950 to something like $500 to become a felony for retail theft. If you steal more than $500, you're doing it for profit; not because you have to steal to eat. If you're racking up $950 in a swipe, that is just ridiculous that such a high dollar theft is still considered a misdemeanor.

Agreed, but I think it's mostly a budget deficiency. Prisons are full and expensive. California has odd laws. These are warning signs placed outdoors.

California government is the ultimate big brother. Thankfully, we're the opposite on this side of the border.

Walgreens was to close stores in NYC, and 200 stores nationwide.

LMAO... He is actually INCREASING his investments in the Freemont plant... Don't let reality hit you in the ass...

The meeting took place at Tesla’s vehicle assembly plant under construction outside of Austin on a property that borders the Colorado River, near the city’s airport.

However, the company plans to increase production in its California plant regardless of the headquarters move.

“To be clear we will be continuing to expand our activities in California,” Musk said. “Our intention is to increase output from Fremont and Giga Nevada by 50%. If you go to our Fremont factory it’s jammed.”

But, he added, “It’s tough for people to afford houses, and people have to come in from far away....There’s a limit to how big you can scale in the Bay Area.”

I've been waiting for California to become a failed state for like 15 years. And yet they continue to outperform the US economy as a whole.

Guess "socialism" works?

Nice frosting.

Now let's see what the cake looks like.
Cake looking fine to me...

They can't do anything. And even if they do call the cops and these people get arrested, Cali's Prop 47 and criminal coddling DAs severely limits their options.
