How to Stop Trump's America (or Die in the Attempt).

Trump or not, this ain't right.
Lovebug:

You are correct, absolutely correct.

The cruelest lesson of history and the driver of the greatest human follies of history is that there are pivotal times in our shared human story when what is right and what is necessary do not intersect. At those times we must still choose and hope that the best choice was made. Often there is no best choice, but we must choose nonetheless and risk bringing ruin and suffering upon ourselves and others. That's because we humans are flawed creatures whose pre-programmed survival instincts curse us with fear, greed for the means of survival, distrust of the 'other', and a propensity to lash out in violence. That suite of drivers induces a paranoid, mass-hysteria in human populations in uncertain times which then leads to atrocity and inhumanity at titanic scales. The one thing that checks this bestial fear and this instinctual violence is trust. Trust allows us to live together in comparative peace and to cooperate in order to create a greater commonwealth for all. Break that trust and the drives to believe in each other and to cooperate for a greater good for many evaporate. Then the bestial drivers return and there is no difference between a Ukrainian and a Russian, between a Palestinian and an Israeli, between a Southerner and Northerner, Between a North Korean and a South Korean, between a Hindu Indian and a Muslim Indian between a Christian and a Jew - it all becomes about survival because trust is broken and the other is a threat. Mr. Trump is the trust-breaker, the oath-breaker, the faithless promiser and the grand deceiver but he is still just a man. What gives him power is that he can tap into those bestial drivers and he can disable reason, pitting person against person, all bereft of trust

That trust has now been broken and Americans are at each others throats, Canadians are booing Americans and vice versa at sports events, desperate Palestinians who saw a glimmer of hope for a dignified peace have had that snatched away by a foreign president while that president's own US hostages in militants' control see their prospects for survival diminish. These are just a few of the present-day signs that the breach of trust is spreading, that social contracts are breaking down, that social cohesion is dissolving, that the international system is collapsing and that trust is being purposely supplanted by fear and hate of the 'other'. Remember back to inauguration day and the three men in the background standing near Mr. Trump. One day very soon you and I will discover that the internets has been shut down, that our means of communication and mutual understanding have been cut and then we too shall be consumed by fear, mistrust and the instinct to survive. Mr. Trump and his backers want that because then they can take everything we value from you and I and use our shock to get it all with little resistance. Its called the Shock Doctrine and it works. The only people who can stop Mr. Trump are the American people and they too must be shocked into awareness and provoked into a resolve to take action. That is why such internet discussions as these are important to fortify those who can resist before the lines of communication are cut and we become a cloud of terrified, socially atomized, individual primates just trying to survive in desperation. Then we give up our shared humanity for a false promise of safety. There is no safety when wolves guard the flock, there is only gradual culling. We are being groomed by fear to cull ourselves while the monied and well connected watch on in likely disdain. Do not allow them to pit us against each other. Take away their power to divide and break trust. This thread is just a more modest Shock Doctrine to wake folks up and to arm more here with better understanding of what is before us all. We are all one until mistrust and fear divide us. So stop the dividers in their tracks before they sunder us all apart and rule over us as they see fit. Topple the trust-breaker and drive his wolves into the night. We must restore the trust and so many levels.

I donot want to nuke anybody, but I do want to shock you all into stark realization and assuming the frightening responsibility you all have to rein in or remove your trust-breaker in chief.

Be well, be wise and be safe.

He's an 80 year old who only consumes fast food, so I'd guess that waiting is an option.

Instead of throwing money at a program that I don’t believe would be much benefit in nuclear arms, Canada and Canadians should understand the sense of urgency in making much more rapid decisions in regards to military equipment procurement.

The government had already announced the plans to procure up to 12 new conventionally powered submarines, so instead of trying to optimize every last detail and pushing a decision out a decade, sign an agreement with SAAB for six C71 submarines with purchase options on more. This would allow manufacturing to be brought inside the borders as an additional benefit. It may not make the most economical sense but there are valid reasons to purchase the other six submarines from another country so we are not solely reliant on one company/nation.

I would also suggest there is a good reason to purchase the SAAB Gripen E, even while taking the full order of F35's as long as that's going to take. There is precedent for purchasing additional new fighters as per the cancelled purchase of Super Hornets in 2017 caused by Boeing's and the US tariffs on the C series jets. After the last tRump administration, it should be obvious that Canada cannot allow itself to be put in a position where we rely on fair and free trade to be used as leverage against us again. Order the 17 Gripen E's that provides one squadron, which would also bring the technical and manufacturing expertise inside our borders. This would allow us to be self reliant if absolutely needed.

Lastly, the government should be thinking hard about increasing enrolment in the Reserve Forces in the CAF, as well as promoting careers in the CAF to the next generation that will be needed. There is no good reason the government can't increase the Reserve Forces by adjusting even slightly in how they operate.

There is not much Canada could do if the US decided on doing the unthinkable, but we can certainly plan for the attacks on our soveirgnty that will be happening in the mid 2030's once the Northwest Passage opens up. We are foolish if we do not begin preparing for those attacks, starting now.

I have heard a theory that high cholesterol and intelligence might be linked. My own good cholesterol is naturally high. However, certain people with high cholesterol are confirmed dolts, so this theory requires further study.

Worth mentioning: Canada has a lot of Ukrainians, both multi-generational and refugees.

Maybe have a chat with Ukraine about drone schematics.
