14% of Americans have a zombie apocalypse plan​

Over one in ten Americans (14%) have a zombie plan ready if the undead ever rove the Earth in search of human flesh, according to a new YouGov survey.

Almost a quarter of Millennials (24%) have a zombie plan prepared, compared to 15 percent of Generation X and 6 percent of Baby Boomers. America’s post-grads are also more likely than other education levels to have a zombie plan—22 percent of them have a zombie plan compared to 14 percent of those with a four-year degree. Two in ten (20%) people who live in urban areas have a zombie plan compared to 11 percent of those in rural communities and 12 percent of those who live in the suburbs.



Roughly two in ten (21%) would find a secure location to hole up and hide, with many mentioning nearby stores or warehouses that would offer access to weapons and resources.
Fewer than two in ten (16%) mentioned their specific desire to stockpile necessary supplies, such as food. Some Americans (12%) outright refused to divulge their secret plans, citing concerns that their hiding spots would be taken or that zombies would use the knowledge against them.
Other popular options to avoid the awakened include relocating (8%), meeting up with friends or family (6%), and killing zombies or survivors (6%). Just 3 percent included “running” in their plan, another 3 percent would work with other survivors. Even fewer (2%) offered to switch sides and help the zombies or intentionally become a zombie.

I suspect that one in ten are all liberals. After all, they are easily influenced by the media. They have a hard time separating fiction from reality.

CDC's Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness Plan was an actual blog post using humour to get people thinking about disaster preparation.

I had dinner with a Zombie a few weeks ago, Ronnie something. Claimed to have escaped some lab somewhere. Nice fella, very into brains.
 
I've always thought Zombies are pretty rubbish.
Any half-decently prepared military base should easily be able to protect themselves from any number of zombies as it's not like they use advanced tactics or superior weaponry.

A bog standard medieval castle would be able to manage to stop a zombie attack so I see no problem for a modern force.

You could just use a helicopter to drop some kind of lure on any large mass of them and then just watch them all melt as you bung phosphorous grenades at them.
Even good old-fashioned petrol bombs will mess them up pretty decently.
 
The only zombie plan you need is to wait for a cold snap and then run them over when they freeze to the ground.

California had a tongue in cheek zombie apocalypse emergency preparedness program for a while.

It worked pretty well.

I'm not worried about actual zombies. If I had a plan like that, it would be for surviving a Tweety zombie rebellion.

Zombie Apocalypse is on my short list of conspiracy events that will end human life. Not the undead kind but WWZ/I Am Legend kind, where a virus/biological agent developed in a lab turns people into super aggressive animal type creatures. My other one is the Large Hadron Collider causing a black hole that will swallow us all, and also the every present asteroid threat.
