Zelensky releases English-language plea: These are the weapons Ukraine needs

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday issued a new English-language plea for heavy weaponry as Russia’s invasion enters its seventh week. Zelensky said since Russia’s invasion on Feb. 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his troops have learned they “had no idea who they were up against.” “We have destroyed more Russian weapons and military equipment than some armies in Europe currently possess.” “But this is not enough,” the wartime leader said as he went on to detail each weapon Ukraine needs in order to fight off Russia.....

“Artillery, 155 millimeters. Artillery shells, 152 millimeters — as many as possible. Multiple Launch Rocket Systems — Grad, Smerch, Tornado and M142 Himars. Armored vehicles, APC (armored personnel carriers) and infantry fighting vehicles, among others. Tanks, T-72 or similar tanks from the U.S.A. or Germany are also wanted. Ukraine is also seeking air defense systems including the S-300 and Buk missile systems along with military aircraft that Zelensky said would “save millions of Ukrainians, as well as millions of Europeans.”

And there you have it. Zelenskyy's wish list.

Just curious . . . who does Zelensky expect to PAY for these weapons?

(I presume he wants these weapons systems as a gift, and has no intention of paying for them.)

God forbid that stopping a murderous war of aggression that does not merely threaten its current target cost money. I mean, we can't have that. Better just let Putin exterminate Ukranians until he gets bored, then set up a puppet government.

Doesn't matter who pays. It is in Europe's and all Western countries interests to prevent Russia from winning and taking vast fields of natural gas under their growing cartel. The elimination of Russia as a military power, and the disposal of Putin is worth a hell of a lot more than a few billion.

Doesn't matter who pays. . .
It matters to me and Millions of other U.S. taxpayers.

This isn't "righting every wrong", it is making sure a wrong doesn't grow to be a direct threat to American interests. Or as Truman put it: "You fight small wars, so you don't have to fight big ones".

Here is what else he needs before the late spring-great summer offensive:

- Scatterable anti armor and anti personnel mines... delivered by 155mm artillery, mine laying vehicles, and (one hopes) aircraft.

- Himars air transportable, precision strike, ballistic missile systems.

- Medium range anti-aircraft missile systems

- Aircraft

- More tanks. Hundreds of them.

Do all that, Ukraine wins. Don't do that, Ukraine 50/50 chance of surviving.

At this time, Ukraine should be endeavoring to destroy as many highway overpasses and train bridges as is possible.

The spring rains have arrived and Russian armor must stay on hard pavement.

Destroy train trestles in Luhansk and Donetsk. This will significantly hamper re-supply from Russia via train.
