As the hours pass and the body count rises in Egypt's latest crisis, videos continue to emerge depicting the level of violence and brutality in the country's clashes. In the graphic YouTube clip above, a group of Egyptians appear to be shot at by someone off-camera as they attempt to carry a wounded man to safety. As the others run to take cover, one man hoists the blood-stained body over his shoulder and attempts to make a break for it before a bullet seems to find him and they both topple to the ground.
The footage was purportedly taken on Wednesday at the main protest camp near the Rabaa al-Adawiyah mosque in eastern Cairo. The Egyptian Health Ministry has put the official death toll of the violence at 638, though casualty figures are expected to rise.

This revolution has really become something else. While i supported the ousting of Morsi the actions the Army has taken against these protesters is not excusable.

French Revolution, anyone?

American Revolution to boot...you know - born of blood and violence and all that. Maybe one day they'll be #1. Oh wait - they were, like 2,000 years ago.

Well, who said it was the Army that shot him?

Let me put it this way... the Muslim Brotherhood has links to terror and some very nasty people. They have in the past used their own people as pawns for political gain, so it is not outside the bonds of reality, that in fact all these so called protesters were in fact infected by armed men who not only took the first shot, but also shot "their own" to increase the death toll since that would gain massive sympathy from not only the people not involved but the world.

I am not saying that the Army did not shoot and kill people, I am saying that they are most likely not the only guilty party there. When Muslim Brotherhood men and women walk around saying that they have taken their children/wifes with them, to insure they get into paradise.. then well.

Not quite. Our revolution was successful in large part because we had substantial foreign backing and because we already had a legitimate framework with which to run our new nation. 18th-century France and 21st-century Egypt do not.

What we are going to see is likely shifting power between the moderates (army) and radicals (MB). Eventually there will be a visionary dictator (a la Napoleon) to subdue both factions and achieve absolute dominance. I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like it

Gosh.

Who could have predicted that establishing the standard that anyone who could amass enough protestors could overthrow the government would lead to violence, anarchy, and blood?

Oh. Wait.

an underreported phenomenon is the development of local militias inside of Egypt as neighborhoods arm themselves against outside interlocutors and even the Tamarod guys are now out there saying annie get your gun.

yup. This ends well.
