Did you know that renovating a golf course is like renovating a nation?

In a way, Mr. Trump, who has never seemed entirely comfortable with the rigors of running for president, appeared more at ease on the ninth hole of Trump Turnberry — just past the mustard-trim lighthouse, with stunning views of the Irish Sea — chatting with reporters about his hotel (“built to the absolute highest standards of luxury” and his course (“built to the absolute highest standards of tournament golf”) as the sun melted through the clouds.

At one point, Mr. Trump even compared his renovation of Trump Turnberry to how he is hoping to overhaul the United States as president. When a reporter pointed out — correctly — that a country is hardly a golf course, Mr. Trump replied: “No it’s not, but you’ll be amazed how similar it is. It’s a place that has to be fixed.”

How similar it is? That's like saying "you'll be amazed at how similar driving an 18 wheeler is to driving a tricycle".

This man is a disgrace. He is making a mockery of us. And only a ****ing selfish beast like Trump would be ballsy enough to drone on about how Brexit is going to benefit his personal ****ing golf course.

Well said. I think his penchant for platitudes and arrogant gibberish also speaks to the low standards of his supporters. He's a rich white guy who plays a certain demographic like a dime store kazoo with talk about a "great" America. I think people in other countries look at him and wonder if the American people are really that dumb. Sadly, some of us are.

From the linked piece ...
"Early in June, Mr. Trump did not even know what Brexit referred to, and as recently as Wednesday, he said that his opinion on the referendum was insignificant because he had not been following the issue closely."

from May 5th ...

"Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, has come out in support of Brexit, saying the UK would be “better off” outside of the European Union and lamenting the consequences of migration in the continent.

The billionaire, who secured the backing of Republican voters on a staunchly anti-immigration platform, said that his support for the UK leaving the EU was a personal belief and not a “recommendation”.

“I think the migration has been a horrible thing for Europe,” Trump told Fox News late on Thursday. “A lot of that was pushed by the EU. I would say that they’re better off without it, personally, but I’m not making that as a recommendation. Just my feeling.”"
- Donald Trump says Obama shouldn't have taken sides on 'Brexit' vote onn June 23rd | Daily Mail Online

So either Ashley Parker of the NYT is lying or just deceptive when she doesn't need to be.
That's what's so disturbing about Trump media coverage.
Stick to facts, there's plenty there.

Interview with Trump published on June 1.

"And Brexit? Your position?" I ask.

"Huh?"

"Brexit."

"Hmm."

"The Brits leaving the EU," I prompt, realizing that his lack of familiarity with one of the most pressing issues in Europe is for him no concern nor liability at all.

"Oh yeah, I think they should leave."

Maybe he needs a little help focusing if he knew what it was on 5/5 but had to be reminded what it was on 6/1.

The Donald Trump Conversation: Politics' "Dark Heart" Is Having the Best Time Anyone's Ever Had - Hollywood Reporter

That isn't a good fact for Trump right there.

People in other countries are dumb enough to elect Socialists for free stuff and joblessness. Till the well runs dry.

Me too! Not every day that one gets possession of their country again.

Trump 2016

Yeah. It seems the left would learn a few things about the failures of socialism, but they don't, it's a shame. They keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. I mean, there's Greece, Venezuela, Cuba...

Anywho, why are people so frightened of DJT?

Maybe he does need help focusing because he clearly knew in May.
Maybe he didn't know the England vote on exiting the EU by that term but my point was that the NYT writer assumed he had no idea about the subject even though he was talking about it in May.
That was deceptive and unnecessary on her part.
Maybe she only knew about Wolffs piece and Wolff in your link made the same assumption.
But if I could find an earlier reference to it so could they if they wanted to.

Look, the Donald is a tad self absorbed so maybe there wasn't enough Donald in the story to make him retain anything about it.

It's scary how his devoted fans ignore the fact that the clown compares renovating a golf course to being President of the United States. Pathetic, actually.

Yes, I think people on other countries think American has dumbed down tremendously when they see this idiot in action. I share their opinions.

DJT's confidence confounds a lot of your low energy people. Running the US isn't that difficult. I mean we've witnessed a radical leftist run the place for the last 7+ years. It can't be rocket science.

Of course it's just like running a golf course, or a beauty pagent, a mortgage company or even a brand of meat. You get an idea, get others to pay for it....just because so many of his ideas are crap doesn't mean he's successful, just stupid

You posted the link read what it says.

Do you have anything to add about the subject line and what I posted in the OP? There are a ton of Brexit threads in Breaking News. This wasn't a Brexit thread.

It's just like running a university too, I suppose.

Hey, it's easy to be President of the United States. So I'm told.

Driving a 18 wheeler and driving a tricycle belie it or not are based in part on the same basic principles with a simple variation in complexity and speed. The basics are the same for driving, period.

As for Trump referencing that rehabbing a country and a golf club are similar in many respects as far as basic applicable principles go, I would say he is correct. Its simply a matter of complexity.

Trump has a good chance at winning this election. You and a few others seem to flat out loath the man, much like I loath and despise Clinton. What will you do if he becomes president? I am having to consider a Clinton presidency, a very unpleasant prospect indeed.

It requires maintenance, attention to detail, adherence to schedules, and constant attention paid to getting new events to keep employees employed. It is a business with prices, products, margins, employees, taxes, risk, and profits.

Don't forget where your idol Obama spent his first six years "phoning it in"! LOL!

Trump could give you guys a sack of $100 bills, and you'd complain it was too heavy!

Obama is my "idol"? Wow, I learn something new every day. I love you Trump fans. You make me laugh. Obama is my idol. Is that why I didn't vote for him - twice? Because he's my idol?

Focus, focus. This thread isn't about Obama. It's about Trump. But thanks for coming to his defense and trying to make the argument that it's just like being President. You guys have not disappointed me yet. +10 points

Shame on me. I should have known the Trump loyalists would come in here in an effort to defend him. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well - and it exists with people who think renovating a golf course is like being President. That is the very definition of "deranged".
