Yet again Trump shows his disrespect for veterans, this time a highly decorated one

As if Donald "Bone Spur" Trump's omission of paying respects to WWI and WWII veterans isn't bad enough, Trump has now derided highly decorated and accomplished retired four-star Adm. Bill McRaven. McRaven is former Navy SEAL who led the capture of Saddam Hussein and the raid that killed bin Laden.

Trump called the admiral a "Hillary Clinton fan" during an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, tacitly alleging that bin Laden should have been captured much sooner, albeit not indicating how McRaven or the Obama administration should have done so.

“Excuse, me, Hillary fan. He’s a Hillary Clinton backer and an Obama-backer and frankly, wouldn’t it have been nice if we got Osama bin Laden a lot sooner than that? Wouldn’t that have been nice?”

This latest aspersion is just one of the many Trump has levied against veterans both tacitly and explicitly. None of us forgets this rebuke of Sen. John McCain: "He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured." There is, of course more:

  Veterans’ cultural cachet is a double-edged sword for the GOP. The conservative movement exists to undermine the notion that the federal government has an obligation to safeguard the well-being of working-class Americans. And veterans are both largely working-class and disproportionately likely to rely on public programs and public-interest regulations for their well-being. Vets get their health care from the single most socialized segment of America’s health-care sector — and most of their advocacy organizations want to keep it that way. Meanwhile, veterans’ acute vulnerability to predatory lenders has abetted the passage of bipartisan legislation strengthening federal regulations on the finance industry. Which is to say that on a number of economic issues, Democrats are the ones holding the “support our troops” card.
  
  All this presented the Trump administration with a stark choice: It could either show deference to the interests of one of its core constituencies, or maximize its cronies’ ability to profit off of deregulation and privatization (at considerable political risk).
  
  It’s now clear that president Trump has opted for door No. 2.....
  
  In sum: The Trump administration believes that kneeling during the national anthem is a grievous insult to the men and women who risked their lives fighting for America, but using political power to help payday lenders bury service members beneath unpayable debts — while allowing one’s billionaire friends to override veterans’ preferences for health-care policy — is not.

In addition, there's the adjacent matter of his exhibiting no regard for the findings of the USIC, notably siding with Putin at least twice, and, of late, MBS of Saudi Arabia.
