it has been observed time and time again that animals flee to other places before natural disasters hit. what more do you want? this has been common knowledge for years.
Common knowledge = Knowledge gained through everyone's senses.
Me and everyone I know has not seen animals run away from a disaster prior to us = Not common knowledge.
"Can Animals Predict Disaster?
Introduction
An elephant trumpets wildly, breaks a chain holding it to a tree, and flees to higher ground — just before a massive tsunami crashes ashore, drowning hundreds of thousands of people.
Did the elephant know the deadly wave was coming?
That’s the question explored by NATURE’s Can Animals Predict Disaster?
In interviews with scientists and eyewitnesses, NATURE probes the evidence that some animals may have senses that allow them to predict impending natural disasters long before we can.
Some creatures, for instance, may be able to “hear” infrasound, — sounds produced by natural phenomena, including earthquakes, volcanoes, and storms, that are inaudible to the human ear. This ability may give elephants and other animals enough time to react and flee to safety.
Another explanation may lie in animals’ sensitivities to electromagnetic field variations. Quantum geophysicist Motoji Ikeya has found that certain animals react to changes in electrical currents. He now regularly monitors a catfish, the most sensitive of the creatures he has tested, to aid him in warning others of coming disaster.
Follow NATURE as it reexamines ancient ideas about how animals can predict disaster which are now gaining credence in scientific circles."

Aww you're a city boy aren't you?
Those creatures are more in touch with the planet than we'll ever be.
Not my fault you are part of the "deny" history crowd. The ramifications of Krakato going boom is accepted among the scientific community. They have found ash from the volcano as far away as Greenland.
"Ever" be? That seems a little presumptuous. A hundred years ago we were creating the first telescopes that allowed us to see planets in our solar system we never even knew existed, today we can can see the background radiation from the Big Bang and have even pinpointed the beginning of it to within a million years. I'm pretty confident that scientific means for understanding our planet will come along nicely as well.
Big bang aint gonna kill ya
That you know of. Best to watch the bison just in case.
I would rather take a que from a bison that has lived on that land its whole life than anyone else.
Good to know. The average bison lives up to 20 years. We've been studying the Yellowstone Caldera for over 30. In addition, most bison have not even graduated from high school, let alone majored in seismology.
no that isn't what common knowledge is.
Rather, common knowledge can be about a broad range of subjects, including science, literature, history, entertainment etc. Often, common knowledge does not need to be cited.
Common knowledge is knowledge that is known by everyone or nearly everyone.
Once a high police authority in China removed home owners out of their own homes by force massively. He gave the order after seeing snakes going out of their holes in winter, effectively risking death for they are coldblooded. An enormous earthquake followed later.
But you said "proven?" Sources that state the experiment please?

Spiritually
It may be common knowledge that animals sense disaster long before disaster happens over there with you. But it is not common knowledge here.
there is a thing called google that allows you to do a ton of research on multiple subjects. it is very educational or can be. you could have taken 5 seconds to look it up.
It is the statement that this sort of thing was "proven." If so I would like to see the research that proved it.
I do not have to bother searching research that supports other people's statements. That is their job if they wish to promote their position.

So bison are spiritual now? Jesus, I don't know if I can eat a bison burger again.
Well, okay, I'll still eat them, but I'm definitely going to feel a little bad about it.
I'm pretty sure the main problem people have with using animals' behavior as a form of disaster prediction is that it doesn't give a very good (or consistent) idea of what the disaster is going to be. For example, take the bison being spooked by an earthquake. As Jmotivator pointed out, bison are spooked by earthquakes. Problem is that there are up to 3000 earthquakes in Yellowstone per year. So at that point bison running around suddenly doesn't really narrow anything down.
Thank you Clownboy.
But the authors there claim that "However, much research still needs to be done on this subject." So it may hint that animals "predict" it is far from being conclusively "proven."
