Would Moses be pro-Mussolini?
Would Native Americans be pro-Andrew Jackson?
Would Chinese be pro-Emperor Hirohito?
Would buffalo be pro-William Frederick Cody?

Democrats were pro-Andrew Jackson, the founder of the Democratic Party, and liberals were pro-Hitler in the 1930s.

The American Nazi Party was one of the fastest growing parties in the USA during the '30s along with the Communist Pary... Liberals loved them both.

I like to imagine if MLK came back he act in the same manner as he was being portrayed in this episode of "The Boondocks".

FYI a black man created and was a writer on this show.

^
Oh, lord, now they're trying to claim MLK as one of their own?

A man opposed right through his soul to everything Trump and MAGA stands for, would actually support it because.....here's a cartoon?

That is how desperate some peoples' situation is?

:lamo

 Stop...

I know that I am not MLK but sometimes I feel like I am continuing his work...

You cannot possibly be serious.

This was the "Greatness of the 1950s" for African Americans:

View attachment 67248603

If family is the most important barometer of support & happiness blacks fared much better during the
"Greatness of the 1950s" for African Americans.

The True Black Tragedy: Illegitimacy Rate of Nearly 75%!
In 1940, black illegitimacy stood at 14 percent. It had risen to 25 percent by 1965, when Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote
"The Negro Family: The Case for National Action" and that widely condemned as a racist. By 1980, the black illegitimacy
rate had more than doubled, to 56 percent, and it has been growing since.

Much of today's pathology seen among many blacks is an outgrowth of the welfare state that has made self-destructive
behavior less costly for the individual. Having children without the benefit of marriage is less burdensome if the mother
receives housing subsidies, welfare payments and food stamps. Plus, the social stigma associated with unwed
motherhood has vanished.

Black youth unemployment in some cities is over 50 percent. But high black youth unemployment is also new. In 1948, the
unemployment rate for black teens was slightly less than that of their white counterparts — 9.4 percent compared with 10.2.

So if some blacks, the talented tenth of blacks, have better lives & more upward mobility nowadays since the MLK movements of the 60's combined with LBJ's 'Great Society' & 'Voting Rights Act' the majority
of poor inner city blacks in many ways are less fortunate and feel further behind
than their counterparts who perhaps led a happier existance in the 1950's

No, he would not have supported MAGA. I also doubt he would have supported gay marriage. So while he was a great American and great leader, I don’t think having MLK on your side on an issue says anything about how right you are.

MLK was a socialist so no, he would not support MAGA. I also doubt he would agree with the sentiment that America was better when there was de jure segregation.

MLK understood that America was a great nation that has had fallen on tough times...

...he would remember the greatness of the 1950's America and wish to see it rise again.

The black communities were largely restricted from enjoying the ‘greatness’ of the 50s.

I voted yes based on his family members who support President Trump's agenda.

"Members of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s extended family came out in support of President Trump this week, on the national day of recognition for the civil rights leader.

Isaac Newton Farris Jr. and Alveda King, Dr. King’s nephew and niece, respectively, asserted in interviews that Trump is not a racist."

It is a completely different America now, so it is hard to say.

No, it's not actually. It's pretty easy actually. 90% of African Americans vote Democrat and have for decades. Democrats nominated and elected the Nations first African American President who was endlessly trashed despite being left a number of the worst disasters in our nation's history by the ****ty white Republican before him. They then elected an overt racist that went around spreading lies claiming Obama was a secret Muslim born in Kenya in an effort to discredit him.

Yeah, sorry, but the answer to the question is quite obviously no. MLK would be disgusted by Donald Trump, and anyone who believes otherwise is living in a delusional alternate reality.

He would not pine for it but he would remember those times as one of opportunity and togetherness...

You should really remove those rose colored glasses.

I'm sure black people back then felt that 'togetherness', when they were denied service at restaurants, and had to use different public utilities from whites.

No, MLK would not have liked the Republican agenda under Trump. He would be appalled at the amount of wealth that has flowed to a comparative few at the expense of masses. He would be appalled at gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics eroding the voting rights act he worked for. He would be appalled at the erosion of workers rights. He would be appalled at the amount of religious bigotry today. He would be appalled at how gun violence has exploded. He would be joyous that a black man had become President in America. He would be joyous that many groups now work for social justice. He would be joyous that diverse people now go to school together, eat together, and are integrated in many ways.
Then he would not like Barack Obama for furthering the downward spiral of race relations and making politics all about skin color.

I am going to his library this Friday... I will channel his spirit and ask him for you...

Can I suggest going to the Reagan library one day and the Nixon Library the next? Interesting contrast.

the '50s were a time of prosperity and opportunity for people...

For white people. Specifically for white christian men. They were not a time of prosperity and opportunity for anyone else. You cannot possibly believe what you are arguing here.

Is that any different than men and women using different bathrooms?

The '50s were better for everybody than were the '30s of the Great Depression. Nobody can seriously argue that this is not true...

I went to the Nixon one about 25 years ago... I remember it being good but I have been told that the Reagan one is awesome. Can't wait.

You gotta be joking.

I can't post pictures with this stupid Mac that I am using while on vacation but I will be home next week and can show you pictures of how well people dressed back then compared to the pants hanging off the butt and hoodies, etc. that people wear now.

You should really remove those rose colored glasses.

African Americans were experiencing opportunities unheard of in previous generations... advancements in sports, government, entertainment, etc.

Do you deny this fact?

MLK’s politics was about skin color...

Sure, but that is a stupid comparison and since you are not stupid, you undoubtedly knew that was a stupid comparison when you made it.

In some ways the 50s were worse because many Southern Whites were retaliating violently to the Civil Rights Movement.
