Jimmy Carter - which I'm surprised is not on your list.

Great humanitarian - horrible, horrible POTUS.

Ronald Reagan for modern history. I guess Harrison for the old history since all he did was get sick and die.

Vote other. Carter is nowhere near on my list to worst. Hoover, Harding or one of the idiots that did nothing to stop the Civil War top my list. Honestly. Carter cannot even compare to those who let 500,000 Americans die because they lacked the courage to do what was necessary.

Tough choice. Buchanan, Harding, or Coolidge. I can excuse Harding to some extent. He was just stupid and completely unqualified for the job... even he knew it. He wasn't corrupt as much as those he put in important positions were corrupt. Buchanan's lack of leadership and action lead to the Civil War, Coolidge's lack of leadership and action lead to the Great Depression. Hmmm... Buchanan was a life long statesman, having been a Representative, a Senator, and a Secretary of State, and should have known better. I give him a little sympathy because he did not have the kind of personality to be President during the time in which he served, a time that required strong leadership, but that does not excuse his failures.

Aside from the Harding issue, I agree. I feel that historical presidents are far worse then contemporary ones. Maybe people have short memories? Honestly, nothing any recent president has done comes close to letting the Civil War happen IMO.

Half a million Americans dead. And you refused to do what was necessary to stop it. No contemporary president can top that.

Pierce for doing absolutely nothing to help save the union.

And setting the state for the Civil War.

I'm curious. What about Harding, that I said, do you disagree with?

Pierce was certainly in the bottom 5, and the signing of the Kansas-Nebraska Act... repealing the Missouri Compromise which pretty much made the Civil War, imminent was a pretty bad decision, but it was on Buchanan's watch that the US "dissolved" and he did nothing to try to stop it.

Abe's job was to protect the union wasn't it?

Uh, hello? Richard "I'm not a crook" Nixon was a crook. The only President to resign, under duress even. The Constitutional crisis he caused was unprecedented. He could have single-handedly brought down the entire government, but luckily cooler heads prevailed.

Nope. The states had/have a right to secede. He had no right to keep the states united by force.

Here are more of Abe's true colors.
Abraham Lincoln Quote

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”

How are the hyper-partisan hackies voting more than once? Do they all have multiple accounts?

From what I understand, the Civil War was pretty inevitable. The South just would not give up their economy and culture based around slavery, and slavery was not an issue that the President had much control over. Remember - Lincoln penned and signed the Emancipation Proclamation, yes, but that only pertained to the slave states that seceded, which he did via executive order as Commander-in-Chief of the military. However, Lincoln did not free the slaves in the Union - that still required legislation from Congress. That came about in the form of the 13th Amendment, which was written by Congress and sent to the state legislatures for approval, which they granted.

But until the Civil War the Southern bloc would not have allowed the abolition of slavery. In fact, there was a Constitutional amendment proposed to ensure that Congress could never pass legislation regarding slavery, the Corwin Amendment.

The Civil War was going to be fought. The only question was when. This is because Congress was more responsible for the issue of slavery than any President was. But that's only natural, considering Congress was made up of delegations from the several states of the Union.

Obama has been the worst. No other president has risen our debt so high in such a short time. His policies have repeatedly failed, and his lies outnumber the truths. I remember how he said his bill would reduce health insurance costs, I remember how the stimulus was supposed to boost jobs and keep the unemployment level below 8%. The debt is too high, Obama is spending like a teenage girl with daddy's credit card, and his policies are failing. I don't really know of any good policies he has passed.

Andrew Johnson. Actively sided with the southern segregationists following the Civil War, just when the civil rights movement was at its zenith. Ensured 100 years of Jim Crow Laws.

You're either being intellectually dishonest or have very limited understanding of the policies of his predecessor.

Far-right dishonest talking point.

Woodrow Wilson.

He was right in his earlier writings about the need for the United States government to implement the science of administration to the federal bureaucracy, and we have taken great strides in that. It's important to have government workers doing their jobs that they keep their jobs despite the rotation of elected officials. In that regards, I agree with him.

However, he sent the Marine Corps to Latin America and the Caribbean to help prop up right-wing dictators for the benefit of American business interests; signed into law legislation that allowed him to use the Post Office to censor political dissidents, namely communists, socialists, and anarchists; and issued executive orders that cast out African-Americans from the federal bureaucracy, segregated the U.S. military, and helped promote the renewal of the Ku Klux Klan, especially in the Midwest.

Prove me wrong.

They have and will.
They have not, and the opposite is true. Insurance companies are raising costs, and many small businesses and employers can't afford to cover their employees. How Obama Health Care Bill Hurts Small Business | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News.
Far-right dishonest talking point.
No, it's Obama's dishonest rhetoric. PolitiFact | Will: Obama said stimulus would cap unemployment at 8 percent Obama lied and used dishonest figures when pushing his stimulus bill. The data he provided said unemployment wouldn't rise above 8%.

More far-right radio regurgitation...

Do you guys on the far-right ever have an original thought?
I am not on the far right. Are you willfully ignorant of the facts? Obama has spent drastically more than other presidents. Above, I have provided proof to each one of my claims.

It looks to me like maybe people without accounts are voting multiple times?

Anyone who votes Obama or George W. Bush is just letting their partisanship override their common sense. They are/were mediocre, but nowhere near the worst we've had.
