I think we have heard enough about wokeness to know what is meant by it.Please define what you mean by wokeness and fanatical.
I have heard a lot of people complaining about it, but not any consistent definition of the term.I think we have heard enough about wokeness to know what is meant by it.
As I said:On one of the cable news networks (I can't remember which, since I often switch channels), some liberals were talking about how the word "woke" has never been clearly defined and is beginning to get a generally negative reaction from the public. They were suggesting that maybe it should be dropped in favor of some other word, although they didn't mention any alternatives.
English speakers are lucky that they do not have to mention all the time whether one speaks of female students or male students or both.
In German it is like this:
Student = male student - and the generic form - Plural: Studenten
Studentin = female student - Plural: Studentinnen
So you may choose:
Studenten und Studentinnen
or
Studentinnen und Studenten
or
Student/innen
or
Student:innen
or
Student*innen
or
Studentx
Its possible. I only ever see "wokeness" on this forum and never in my daily life.Maybe wokeness in Germany has become worse than wokeness here.
I do not see it in my daily life either. Its possible. I only ever see "wokeness" on this forum and never in my daily life.
Yeah, you get various media figures doing that here too, but very few people actually live in that space. Most just view it from a computer.I do not see it in my daily life either.
But I see that some trendy German journalists are getting "woker and woker" and try to tell us which way we have to speak.
That's what you are concerned about? People (at least in the US) started realizing that was wrong in the early 90s.Here is an example:
Political Correctness - and Egyptian, Indian, Spanish, Japanese, and Mexican costumes
This is the case: At a garden show in Germany some German group wanted to perform dances in Egyptian, Spanish, Asian Indian, Japanese, and Mexican costumes. At first this was allowed, but then, just a day before the performance, it was "verboten". Or most of it. What would you allow?debatepolitics.com
And what was wrong? That's what you are concerned about? People (at least in the US) started realizing that was wrong in the early 90s.
Doing it while performing dances trivializes others. If you want to wear a sombrero while going about your day, I don't see a problem with that. And what was wrong?
If a Non-Mexican wore a sombrero - or if he was forbidden to wear a sombrero?
As I said:
Maybe "woke" was well meant in the beginning, but now it has become fanatical
Maybe this is also mis-understood in Germany. It's a term used in the black community to stay woke to the political and social issues affecting black people.
I'm sure the definition is in queue. Right after someone on the left is successfully able to define what is a woman. Maybe wokeness is the inability to define things anymore. So, anyone woke will not be able to define "woke."Please define what you mean by wokeness and fanatical. I am not exactly sure what you are complaining about.
