Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen etc

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

Golly gee whiz, Gomer, why do those leftists hate us so much? All we want to do is to be able to discriminate against whoever it is we wanted to discriminate against - and the freedom to discriminate is obviously so much better than freedom from discrimination, ain't it? Of course, the freedom to discriminate is only good for those of us who're doin' the discriminatin'....

Sorry, but I don't consider the desire to keep grown men from hanging their manhood out in plain view while my 5 and 6 year old daughters are in the "ladies" room..."discrimination" TYVM

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

The Right was all for boycotts when it suited them- like the anger over a pagan symbol for Proctor and Gamble- if one speaks of tradition, then the Right didn't mind toppling tradition. Oreo got Right wing heat for a Gay pride Oreo. Liberty council called for a Target boycott when that corporation supported gay rights and marriage equality. Social Conservatives attacked McDonald's, Starbucks, paypal, and Lowe's for saying 'Happy Holidays'. Franklin Graham joined other groups boycotting Girl Scout cookies because of the TG tolerance of that organization...

So I'd say the Right whines about boycotts only if someone else is doing it... ;)

Do you have links for any of this?
Noone said the right "never" objects or boycotts. However, in recent memory I don't recall the left blocking freeways to prevent opponents from attending opposing political rallys.
RECENT examples seem to show the left FAR exceeds the right in such poor behavior. If wrong, then by all means post recent examples.

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

so you'll discriminate against people because they discriminate... and discrimination is bad.

in any event, I don't care about boycotts and temper tantrums... I guess we'll just a country of toddlers after all, not able to debate ideas on their merits, just throw **** out there, and then watch the ensuing temper tantrums.

it's true both sides boycotts stuff... but i think the american left is better at it... their boycotts seem to have more impact....I don't know if that's because they are reported on by a friendly media/echo chamber, or if they actually have a more substantial impact

They have a friendly media backing them.
The left dominates entertainment, media.....this thing has been extremely well planned. The right seems to be stunned yet it was obvious it was coming for decades or longer.

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

I don't think this is a fair statement. The liberal media is FAR more likely to publicize bad behavior of the right....yet it's rare to hear such things.
You generalize with no specifics.
Recent examples please.

Boycott of JC Penny for using Ellen in an add

The boycott of Starbucks for a coffee cup
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Family_Association#Boycotts

The AFA has boycotted companies for various reasons, most often relating to Christmas controversies, pornography, support of pro-choice activism, support of violence or sexual content in entertainment, and support of LGBT rights,[33][34][35] including same-sex partner employee benefits. These organizations include: 7-Eleven, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Airlines, American Girl, Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Calvin Klein, Carl's Jr., Chobani, Clorox, Comcast, Crest, Ford, Hallmark Cards, Hardee's, Kmart, Kraft Foods, S. C. Johnson & Son, Movie Gallery, Microsoft, MTV, Paramount Pictures, Time Warner, Universal Studios, DreamWorks, Mary Kay, NutriSystem, Old Navy, IKEA, Sears, Pampers, Procter & Gamble, Target, Walt Disney Company, and PepsiCo. The AFA has criticized the People's Republic of China for its persecution of Christians.[36][37][38]

In 1986, 7-Eleven stopped selling Playboy and Penthouse magazines after a two-year boycott by the AFA.[39] In 1989 the AFA boycotted WaldenBooks in an attempt to persuade the company to stop selling those same magazines. As a result, WaldenBooks launched an advertisement campaign against censorship, asserting First Amendment rights. WaldenBooks, American Booksellers Association, the Council for Periodical Distributors Association, the International Periodical Distributors Association, and Duval Bibb Services launched a lawsuit against the AFA in October 1989, under the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and the Florida State RICO Acts, which protect an organization's right to conduct business without harassment or threats.[40] The case was settled by the parties without a court ruling

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

Would you like him following your daughter into the bathroom:
n-MICHAEL-CADE-HUGHES-628x314.jpg

According to bathroom laws he would have to because he was born a woman.

I think most of us will agree that the issue here is we do not want to see is penises visible to little girls in a ladies restroom. That is probably the fear.
Most men probably don't care if a transgender woman uses a mans bathroom.
Heck, most men probably don't care if a woman uses the mens restroom. But we do care if our daughters are exposed too things to early. At least on the right we do.

But the left has turned this nation into a Politically Correct wussyland where people are afraid to say it due to fear of retaliation by the left.
Part of the problem is the Right needs to get over this fear and start fighting back tooth and nail...in kind.

I think it's young girls who are most vulnerable to psychological trauma in this entire debate.

The other concept is that when other trans types begin to surface, where can a line be drawn?

Trans race
......I "feel" white but I'm black or vice versa...My skin may be white, but because I "feel" black, you discriminated against me
Trans species...I "feel" like a horse, I need special accommodations
Trans culture....I feel I am a Saudi King....you must bow to me and kiss my hand
Trans age.... I may be 70 chronologically, but I feel like I'm 25 so why can't I join the military or become an air traffic controller? I "feel" like a 5 year old boy, so why can't I have a 5 year old girlfriend?
Trans wealth...I "feel" like I should be wealthy, so you must treat me as such...een though I'm financially broke
Trans weight...."The scale may say I'm 400lbs, but in my mind I'm slender, so why do I have to pay more for an airline seat"?

and on and on and on.....

Trans Gender may be just the beginning

You have to reach back decades to find a few examples?

I think you've proven MY point nicely. Thanks!

I could find far more then I posted, and of course you did not read the link beyond the first sentence or you would have seen examples up to 2012 for just the AFA

I could have included Franklin Graham call for a boycott of Girl Scout cookies in 2016

Thanks for proving the statement at the end of my posts

Ignorance is bliss, and conservatives are generally the most happy/blissfull

All women's bathrooms have stalls, there is no way they will ever see anyone's penis even without this law because believe it or not women's bathrooms do not have urinals. If they have bottom surgery that is not even an issue. Why the hell do you care so much about other people's genitals? How are you even going to enforce the law? Check people's birth certificates as they enter the washroom? This law just makes it more uncomfortable for everyone, I am sure women feel uncomfortable with the man above in their washroom.

Transgenderism is an actual recognized mental disorder and the cure for that is gender reassignment. Those other ones are stupid and don't ****ing exist because they can't.

How about looking up the argument that the transgenders give to your specific claim? See, that's one of the problems I have with conservatives - they rarely really listen to and consider the other side of the story.

And to pointedly address your claim, there's no urinal in there for the other women to see anything hanging out at all.

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

I fully support liberal elites in the entertainment industry using their perceived importance to push their social agendas. It also helps me in determining how I will expend my entertainment dollars, and I most assuredly do not waste any of my money on those who preach politics from an entertainment pulpit.

what is humorous is that the people MOST likely to go see Springsteen are the people most likely to vote for political correctness.

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

This is nothing more than approved bullying .

Another much more accurate term would be Progressive-Fascism.

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

Numerous liberal, Progressive or otherwise Left Leaning businesses and entertainers have decided not to participate in states where legislative actions have been enacted to protect the rights of the majority over perceived intrusions of common sense, historical traditions. Traditions such as men using the men's restroom and women using a woman's bathroom.
While these concepts seem, on the surface, solidly best practice as common sense can afford, the minority insists that it gets it's way or they will not participate financially or in the case of some "artists", performing in such areas.

Others who have used this leverage include Disney, PayPal and many others.

Is such withdrawal a good idea? Does it benefit society at large or just a small, but very vocal and menacing minority?

And if so, why aren't Conservatives and the Right, in general, boycotting the Left in a similar fashion? Why is it that only the left plays this game?
If it's effective, and drives modern social, political and economic policy, is the Right missing out and submitting to the whim of the Left?

Should the right be vigorously boycotting the NFL, Disney, PayPal, Hollywood etc?

Meh, I respect his right to perform wherever he chooses, and to boycott locations that he feels do some harm to some of his pet causes. This won't make any difference in the government of the state, nor should it. It does hurt the businesses and individuals that stood to make money from his event, but I doubt he cares about that.

Glen,
You sir are completely ignoring one glaring piece of reality......

Once given the public green light for the "nice" trans gender men to use the ladies room, what's to stop the fruits, nuts and violent vegetables from exploiting that and harming our children?
This is such a selfish one sided view of things by the left.

No way?
It's so nice of you to assume that perverts and sick pedophiles do not exist.

How many perverts going into the ladies room for the SOLE PURPOSE of exhibitionism and traumatizing our children will it take to get you to realize the selfishness of what is being done?

You seem to believe that we have no perverts in our society.

How exactly does this law stop that?

Re: Withdrawing social participation due to opposiing political views - B Springsteen

I love how liberals act like everyone is ignorant of what they use public education for.

I love how conservatives whine constantly about what liberals do without thinking that they could do something, too.
Something besides whine and complain, I mean. The victimstance gets tiresome, knowwhatImean?

Ask "the right".

But, sorry to tell you but Rock and Roll IS political. It has been since a boy named Elvis sang "Negro music" on TV. From the mid-1960's music was the forefront of social change, the vanguard of opposition to the Vietnam war, the civil rights movement.

Go Bruce!

"The right" is absolutely free to boycott all his other shows. I doubt he will notice

The laugh of the day.

If "fascism" is deciding NOT to do something, then what is a government that allows the detention of people without due process?

Get real, the right is wrong. Mr. Springsteen is infringing on NO-ONE's right to do anything. Meanwhile, "the right" embraces banning people from entering based on their religion. Where the **** is that in your precious constitution? Where in that document does it say the government can read your email, spy on your cell phone...?

This erosion of rights is what the right wants in the name of "national security". You're terrified of being killed by a terrorist when you have a 15 times greater chance to die in a car accident.

At the first sign of trouble, the American right is the first to scrap individual liberties. Don't throw words like fascism around until you know what they mean

Back when the constitution was drafted, there were many four Muslims in the country and they had no idea what a cell phone or the Internet was.

FYI, if a nutcase really wanted to go into a ladies' room and harming children, the absence of a law allowing transgenders to use the appropriate restroom is NOT going to stop him. He'll go there ANYway.
