It's a long article, so I snipped a bit to give the general flavor of it:
It's kind of interesting, I've travelled all over the world and anywhere I go, I haven't had too much of a problem using US currency. If a private business owner chooses to take foreign currency, so be it. However, if they choose to give change in a foreign currency when the customer didn't pay with it, then there is a problem.
Decision by the Pizza Patron chain to accept Mexican currency draws criticism and praise. Company officials say it was simply a business decision.
A pizza business with an outlet in Wilmington has become the first chain in the country to accept Mexican currency, setting off an avalanche of strong opinions on both sides of the "melting pot" debate.
The pizza chain, which caters to the Latino community in five states, began accepting pesos for payment Monday.
Fielder said the promotion will continue for two months and be assessed to determine if it should continue.
Gamm said he doesn't know why some people become so upset.
"This was a business decision for us," he said. "We are a small chain. We are going up against some very big competitors with some big pockets."
