My guess is that will not happen.
It'll be part of the rejoining package. If as is likely Britain does so badly outside that it wants back in, then we'll do it on Europe's terms.
(assuming we go!)I take what comfort I can from the bookies suggesting it's 60/40 stay.

Yeah, and Northern Ireland would be like Kosovo.
My guess is that will not happen.
Do you think its (Ireland's) geopolitics would resemble Serbia's? Do you think we could see a political as well as military similarity emerge in the near future similar to the NATO intervention of Yugoslavia? (Assuming that dormant ethnic tensions between the countries could reemerge and boil to the surface with renewed border controls, Neo-IRA terrorist organizations, and a "Troubles Part 2" situation only more widespread and rampant.)

I know maybe (and maybe not) other countries would leave if England does. Maybe the EU would become smaller. But will it survive at all, or will it cease to exist eventually? Although of course not right away.
It still has Germany and France. They're not going to lose many countries while they have Germany and France.
How would the USA have won the Revolutionary War without France's help? Fill us in.
I think that it's unlikely that NATO will be going to war against Ireland.
Yeah...France knows all about surrender. :lamo:lamo
There's a lot of ignorance contained in that stupid snark.
Well at least the French do have decent dental hygiene habits. How's that?
Yes the EU will survive without the UK. The UK is NOT the center of the universe, quite contrary to what most British think of themselves.
Lets keep it to at least the last 100 years, shall we? The french gained their "cheese eating surrender monkey" reputation during WW2.
The EU will ultimately cease to exist if it does not federalize and become an American style supernation; common currency without common cause and a system of transfer payments to balance the region's economy is untenable in the long run.
Funny how that isn't said of the Poles, the Czechs, the Greeks, the Serbs, Benelux, Scandinavians in general and, if one likes, the lion's share of the Brit army scarpering at Dunkirk.Lets keep it to at least the last 100 years, shall we? What is not realized though among the pipe dreamers in UK who believe everything can be negotiated back to normal for Britain after Brexit, is the understandable EU stance of "hey, if we don't stand firm on out is out, everybody else will start wanting to have their cake and eat it too."That is not the mechanism that is considered likely, it is "hey if they can leave then so can we, and of course we should".

There're plenty of reasons to bash the match in the way it's gone, leaving the pitch and taking the ball home with you but still wanting to play is not the most intelligent way though.
It isn't.I dont know if the Brits are right or wrong that they would have the power to do advantageous deals with the EU, could be true.
You appear unable to understand what I said. Offering UK all the previous benefits but without membership is a "no-no" on account of strictures that have nothing to do with any moral high or low ground. Conflating these issues demonstrates incomprehension of reality. If it is true they might as well do it, the EU Masters lost the moral high ground in their dealings with Greece and Turkey to name just two of many places.
I'm sure you wanted to convey something there so maybe give it another try.Oh wait, power is not supposed to matter anymore, I forgot, this is now a Barney World were good people do the right thing because it is the right thing. The elite tell me this all the time......as they lie and do the wrong thing so much of the time.
