Even Nixon’s attorney general would think Barr is going off the rails.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General William P. Barr told federal prosecutors in a call last week that they should consider charging rioters and others who had committed violent crimes at protests in recent months with sedition, according to two people familiar with the call.

The highly unusual suggestion to charge people with insurrection against lawful authority alarmed some on the call, which included U.S. attorneys around the country, said the people, who described Mr. Barr’s comments on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.

The attorney general has also asked prosecutors in the Justice Department’s civil rights division to explore whether they could bring criminal charges against Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle for allowing some residents to establish a police-free protest zone near the city’s downtown for weeks this summer, according to two people briefed on those discussions. Late Wednesday, a department spokesman said that Mr. Barr did not direct the civil rights division to explore this idea.

During a speech on Wednesday night, Mr. Barr noted that the Supreme Court had determined that the executive branch had “virtually unchecked discretion” in deciding whether to prosecute cases. He did not mention Ms. Durkan or the sedition statute.

“The power to execute and enforce the law is an executive function altogether,” Mr. Barr said in remarks at an event in suburban Washington celebrating the Constitution. “That means discretion is invested in the executive to determine when to exercise the prosecutorial power.”

“Virtually unchecked discretion” to prosecute cases? What case is Barr citing for that?

Also, what law did Seattle’s mayor supposedly break in setting up an autonomous police free protest zone?

It's not that he's wrong by Prosecutional discretion, that is indeed a thing. It's just that if they make a complete bs case the Judge will throw it out. However the danger doesn't exactly lie with them being able to throw people in jail willy nilly, though it could be a concern, it's that if they even make a semi- convincing case people would have to pay expensive lawyers to defend themselves. While this is technically within the right of the prosecution to do, one would think tax payer's money shouldn't be wasted on unwinnable cases that just will force innocent people to go broke over legal bills.

Barr is currently the most dangerous person of this administration.

Oh Barr is a dangerous man. His view of the law is basically: the law is what I say it is. A very pragmatic and useful view for Trump. It's just that he indeed have many tools that can be abused without him actually breaking any laws.

My response to Barr’s veiw of the law is my signature.

He's dangerous to you because he's competent, has integrity, and isn't intimidated by the liberal media and the far left outrage mob... Or put another way, he's someone you can't push around. When the man sees political corruption and/or illegal activity he does his job without hesitation.

Perhaps you should ask the "two people briefed on those discussions".

I think Flynn and many more people would agree with you on this.

Barr, Barr changes his opinion on the law with his socks. When asked, "isn't it illegal to vote twice", he didn't know. Really? What ****ing law school did he go to? That's our Attorney General; the law is whatever Donald Trump needs it to be.

YES, Bill Barr IS the most dangerous man in America, we are a Nation of LAW and Bill Barr is ****ting on all OUR laws. Couple that with our president being the most despicable man in America and you have a very, very dangerous assault on OUR Government, OUR Constitution and OUR way of life.

Barr is a scumbag and a hack...now throwing his own DOJ prosecutors under the bus in a mad power grab to dictate how individual prosecutions are handled. Headed for disbarment after January 20th IMO.

Honestly I have no idea why he was given such a pass in this second round as an AG. He was a political hack before getting the AG job for Bush and he is still a political hack now.

verrrrrrrrry scarey!
Remember when he lied about the Mueller report?
"The Special Counsel's investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,"

Did not find is not was not there. Mueller never had the authority from yellow streak Rosenstein to anything other than what he could prosecute. Hence no actual look at ties to Russia and no look at Collusion.

This horse has been beaten to death a zillion times in this forum. So I would discourage you from going down this road. Its just a waste of keystrokes.

on the reason the probe was started in the first place.

[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”
Pretty clear.

They didn't even look for it thanks to yellow streak Rosenstein who actually controlled the entire investigation.

Nope - not a single minute spent on that, LAFFRIOT
...I got a good chuckle out of that one.
Hope others did as well

The Flynn situation is a prime example of Barr doing what he wants and not caring about precedent or law.

Read the reports this Administration has welcomed foreign help at every turn. He surrounded himself with people who do not care about the country.

Barr will be looking for a job the day after Biden is sworn in, along with a whole lot of other trump appointees. But no problem, the trumps will be looking for good criminal lawyers next year.

Did not find is not was not there.

The House and the Senate said pretty much the same thing as Mueller-- no conspiracy.
At some point reasonable people ought to conclude that it was not found because it didn't happen.

The US attorney for Western Washington has denied there was any direction given to investigate the Seattle mayor.

How are you able to post from your alternate reality?

Barr is about as creepy as it gets. Claiming that lock downs are the greatest imposition on civil liberties disgusting...another smug fat white doughboy claiming comparing something to slavery....ah-huh

Then claiming that BLM uses Black Americans killed by police when mainly the issue is Black Americans killed as an end result of excessive police profiling and overzealous policing of the Black Community is another case of a fat smug white doughboy trying to insight an already explosive situation. AGAIN....DISGUSTING!d

In some ways Barr is worse than Trump if that can be believed. At least Trump is not a fat smug little twit.
