Worshipers Flout California Mask Mandate at Packed Service in Redding [Video]
A large group of people flouted social distancing guidelines during a worship service at the Sundial Bridge in Redding, California, on July 22, local media reported.

The event was held by Hold the Line, a religious organization that has planned a “#LetUsWorship” tour through five cities in California, and was affiliated with the Redding-based Bethel Church School of Supernatural Ministry. However, Mike Mangas of KRCR reported that the church denied it was a sanctioned event. Local health officials were told it would be a small gathering, and therefore would not require a permit, Mangas wrote.

I hope not.

I wonder how many more services there will be in a few weeks? Bless their little hearts.

No matter where one lives in the USA, there seems to be no shortage of stupid people. :(

Everywhere. A 'drum circle' at Third Beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver, last night.

Stupid is in very generous supply everywhere.

But see, there's a huge discrepancy here. Being outdoors is supposed to be safer than being indoors because the transmission rate is lower, at least that's what the studies have said.

Have you ever been to Redding, let alone in July?

Is there something about Redding in July that mandates cramming hundreds of people into a small space in the middle of the day to practice their delusions?

Yes, would never have been in a crowded area like that....too hot!!!!!

Many places in California are hotter than Redding. Ever hear of Death Valley? Some desert towns in the county I live in are some of the hottest in the nation this time of year, such as Palm Springs and Indio.

We've been doing pretty good here virus-wise because everyone's been on the same page around safety protocols. Now things have been slackened (they call it 'stage 3') and sure enough a bunch of yahoos throw an impromptu celebration at the beach at sunset. The guidelines say small groups, safe spaces. If we have a spike that threatens to trigger backing off on the opening up it'll be because of jerks like those.
We're getting close to normal here. We don't need to lose the ground We've taken.

They forgot to wear masks.

The key was being outdoors and wearing masks.

Studies say outdoor events, even large, fairly dense ones, could be held—as long as people wear masks and as long as the people themselves were not in categories of high risk.

Well, with any luck the only people carrying Covid 19 were the few that chose to wear a mask.

We did real well in California at first. People were vigilant - wore masks, safe distanced....etc. Intial graduated opening was good too. Then Mem Day /Graduatioms/July 4th hit and enough people were stuck on stupid and acted like it could not happen to them. Now we are in world of hurt.

Can everybody in this country just do the what the epidemiologists are asking for 4 weeks???? I mean unless they want the economy to be shut down for for another year.
