Will the terror level be raised before the midterms?

In case you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a change in the terror level since the 04 elections.

I'm curious to see if other DP members think there will be a change in the alert status as we approach the mid terms. I'm reminded of the fact that former Homeland Security director Tom Ridge admitted that he was instructed to raise the threat level before the elections without knowing why or what the threat was.

Probably not, at least not for political reasons. Even if the Bush Administration is inclined to do so, I don't think they can really get extra votes out of it at this point. It might even backfire.

How about a Bin Ladin video coming out before midterms saying how much the GOP is lying to the public? Same thing as a terror alert.

yeah lol, but the thing is that it's expected now like Kanadar pointed out. Killing Al-Zarqawi was good and will be boost for him but may not last until novemeber. Good move executing it early.

I honestly doubt that Zarqawi had anything to do with election efforts. He was spotted, tracked and taken out. Nothing I've read or heard leads me to believe of anything behind taking out Zarqawi other then to take out a terrorist head.
Keep in mind, even with AZ taken out, there was a very low key annoucement about it. No banner on an Aircraft carrier proclaiming mission accomplished or any of the sort.

Yeah that's true. Nevermind.

I think I'll start a poll asking if anyone actually knows what the terror level is without looking it up. I highly doubt most people will know, I sure as hell don't.

I'd say it's a system which measures the level of terror in the country at the time :doh

it won't happen. Raising the terror level will show that our country is still under possible attack which is not the agenda of the current admin. They want people to think as long as our army is in Iraq we here on US soil are completely safe.

I meant the number (or does it go by color?) Poorly worded post I guess.

I voted no unless we have word of another possible terrorist attack......
