I came across this "group" designation and the following quote in a book I'm currently reading and got a good laugh out of it.
Sound familiar?

" I would like to observe that the older generation had certainly pretty well ruined this world before passing it on to us. They give us this Thing, knocked to pieces, leaky, red-hot, threatening to blow up; and then they are surprised that we don't accept it with the same attitude of pretty, decorous enthusiasm with which they received it, 'way back in the eighteen-nineties, nicely painted, smoothly running, practically fool-proof."

"Now, with loving pride, they turn over their wreck to us; and, since we are not properly overwhelmed with loving gratitude, shake their heads and sigh, "Dear! dear!

I Googled it and got the following interesting site.
Some things never change. Round and round we go.

In these days and times, the younger generation truly does have the right to be pissed off. Not at the public as a whole but at the politicians who put off Global Warming as something that was not serious. As I've said many times: We need to stop electing older men and women. They (Polticians) know all too well that they'll be dead when the proverbial crap-hits-the-fan. If we stuck to younger people, we could go after their sorry asses when their actions screw everything up.

lol..dumb millennials and their "progress " to socialism, while destroying our energy sector is something i'll gladly miss
in 20 or so years when im dead.

By that time cat food will be a gourmet meal

Keep it up. LOL

"And now, through the soft-headed folly of these painfully shocked Grundys, we have that devastating wisdom which is safe only for the burned-out embers of grizzled, cautious old men. We may be fire, but it was they who made us play with gunpowder."

Unfortunately we may not have 20 years. Venezuela went from being the richest country in South America and the worlds largest oil producer to abject poverty virtually overnight.

Kids nowadays.

^^^ spoken since the beginning of time.

Also spoken every generation is what the OP notes.

Good for a laugh, but that's about it.
Good for a laugh if you're old, highly insightful if you are young.
Every generation thinks the previous generation had it easy and handed them a pile of steaming shit.

Right, which is why baby boomers should really be asking themselves whether it's smart to continue wasting their time fighting their children and grandchildren.
It's a pointless fight. The young people always win. And we make sure history reflects that we were right about everything.
All that happens is the young people lose respect for their parents because their parents belligerently refuse change. Every election that goes by where we don't get what we want we just become more and more furious with you.

Why Bother? You can't win. Why not let your children choose their own future? At least that way if they hate it they'll have nobody to blame for it but themselves.

No fight from me. I express my opinion but really all I can do is hand the next generation the liberty and prosperity I fought so hard to retain and pass on. What they do with that is up to them.
It's not much different than buying a kid a Christmas present. If they take care of it and pass it on to their kids great but if they break it or don't like it and throw it in the trash oh well.

Yeah, except the kids have a different idea of what liberty and prosperity look like than you. When you vote against them you're not giving us a gift you're fighting them.

To be fair, the greatest generation left a great country to the boomers. They refused to pay the upkeep while running up massive debt and looting everything they could. Now we are leaving a rotting husk on the verge of collapse to the next generation and to many of the old people are really just to stupid to see it.

Liberty and prosperity are my gift to you. At this point in life you may not appreciate it as I did not when I was young.
Using the Christmas present analogy if you throw my gift in the trash I may retrieve it and see if you want it back when you mature a bit.
I mocked and ridiculed everything my parents generation said and did but over time they started looking smarter and smarter. There was room for improvement and my generation polished the apple but didn't throw it out. Hopefully and probably your generation will do the same.

The greatest generation was also extremely racist. The boomers enacted civil rights.

Every new generation thinks the same

Right, but imagine if you killed a pig, had it butchered, and gave your kids 150 lbs worth of pork for Christmas, and then your kids said, "Sorry dad, but we're vegetarians. We believe it's wrong to kill animals for food. Also, we don't own a freezer big enough to store all this meat."
And then the very next year you went out and did the exact same thing...

You don't get to claim it's a gift again. Now you're just a troll who is belligerently ignoring your children's wishes out of spite.

I would say the Boomers are very racist. Trump is easily the most racist president since at least Richard Nixon.

Speaking of which...The Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964. Most Boomers were barely old enough to vote at that point.

I would like to observe that the older generation had certainly pretty well ruined this world before passing it on to us.

And every older generation thinks they've left their children a perfect world. The greatest generation clearly left boomers a world that was not perfect.

Well if you equate liberty and prosperity to killing a pig I’m at a loss

Boomers were the ones marching in the streets for civil rights.
Nobody thinks we are leaving you a perfect world but you do inherit liberty and prosperity. Do with it what you will. As us old timers die off the angry idealistic youth will mature and polish the apple instead of toss it in the garbage. I wish you well.

Yeah, you keep saying Liberty and Prosperity because that's what you think it is, but we have a very different view of what that is.
Call it whatever you want, you're shoving it down your children's throats and we don't want it.
You can't call it Liberty when you're shoving it down someone's throat against their will.

Liberty
“the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.”
"

Liberty is freedom of choice. You don’t want that? You want to be told what to do? Cool
I’m telling you to Vote Republican! Lol

No, you're not. You're sitting on your asses watching Fox News attack those fighting for Civil Rights.
Nobody thinks we are leaving you a perfect world but you do inherit liberty and prosperity.
No, we do not. We have debt. You can't have liberty and prosperity when you are overwhelmed with debt.
