During the investigation following the initial incident, Mr. Blake admitted that he had a knife in his possession. DCI agents recovered a knife from the driver’s side floorboard of Mr. Blake’s vehicle. A search of the vehicle located no additional weapons.

Blake seems to have made a LOT of bad decisions leading up to getting shot.

At this point we know that the cops were called because someone in the house called 911 on Blake, specifically. We know that Blake disregarded police instructions to comply with their investigation, was tasered (or there was an attempt to taser him}, continued to disregard police instruction and proceeded to attempt to either get into the car with his kids or retrieve a knife from that car. There was every indication that if he obtained a weapon that he would use it and that if he got into the car he would be putting the kids in danger. The cop shot him and, frankly, I don't think too many juries would have a problem with that.

He did have an outstanding warrant for his arrest; class three sexual abuse-25 years and a big-ass fine. I would say he was resisting arrest with that in mind, and felt desperate enough to run for a knife.

Still, why seven shots to the back? I can't reconcile that one.

There is, in fact, circumstantial evidence that Blake WAS holding the knife as all three officers seemed to believe it was necessary to draw down on him. If Blake presented a knife that would certainly explain the police reaction.

We're going to find out in the days ahead if this cop acted out of bigotry...
I grow weary of the foolish dimwits who judge before knowing and really don't think our LE officers have a right to self-defend in the line of duty.

A recording revealed the police ordering him to put down the knife. Other reports say a struggle occurred earlier with the police and they used a taser and he then got up off the ground while the police told him to stay on the ground. Another report claimed at one time he was on the passenger side of the car. Another report said this man had an open warrant for his arrest over sexual abuse and he has a record that also includes pulling a gun in a bar and threatening people. He also has multiple domestic abuse charges on his record.

I think people should stop guessing and wait for the investigation to be completed.
