Around the time that the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan I kept hearing how Americans were "tired of war" or "war-weary".

Why?

Until the botched withdrawal the U.S. hadn't had any soldiers killed in Afghanistan in over a year. And only a handful wounded. So why would Americans be at all "tired of war" or "war weary" given that?

To me it is very difficult to even consider a war going on if your people aren't even dying.

Botched withdrawal? What was accomplished was nothing short of incredible. Soldiers die in war zones. Not only are no more US troops dying in Afghanistan, they are available for other US military needs because we are not in Afghanistan.

U.S. troops were already "not dying" in Afghanistan. And the number of soldiers we had stationed there was trivial at most.

The War in Afghanistan was America's longest war ever. We kept staying long after bin Laden was dead. For what? The military-industrial complex?

It was time to come home.

Complete stupidity on your part.

You have any actual proof that the so called "military industrial complex" profited excessively from the war in Afghanistan?

And once again, given we didn't have any soldiers killed in the last year of that "war" it is difficult to call it a "war" by any definition.

The war lasted 19.9 years. The withdrawal was planned under the orange cult leader.

What an utter nonsense post and failure of reading comprehension!

Why was Biden bound to any policy initiated by Trump? He had no problems overturning various other Trump policies.

Billions of dollars a year down the toilet.

What a dumb post.

Prove that those "billions of dollars a year" went "down the toilet".
How about the fact that the Taliban are in charge in Afghanistan just like they were before the toilet flushed? Absolutely nothing was accomplished by pouring all that money down the toilet and losing all those lives.

Afghan women had 20 years of not worrying about being executed by the Taliban for attending school. That is significant.

And where are they now? What was bought with all those billions you say were well spent, not flushed down the toilet.
And you accuse others of complete stupidity...

Are you saying that King Puckerhead made a mistake in planning the withdrawal?
President Trump did make a colossal error in planning the withdrawal. Why are you surprised by that? I"ve never hesitated to criticize Donald Trump.

No victory is permanent. But 20 years is significant and means something.

It's odd to see criticism coming from his voters. He doesn't like that. I suppose he'll have to primary you now.

It means ****-all. Absolutely nada. 20 years, four Presidents, thousands of lives and billions of dollars later and the Taliban is in charge like none of it happened.
