I guess this is the Captain Obvious statement of the year.
...the former president suffered from voter perception that he wasn’t honest or trustworthy and that he was crushed by disapproval of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
And, of course, the hardest hit came to his base in all the wrong states.
The report zeroes in on an array of demographics where Trump suffered decisive reversals in 2020, including among white seniors, the same group that helped to propel him to the White House. The autopsy says that Trump saw the “greatest erosion with white voters, particularly white men,” and that he “lost ground with almost every age group.” In the five states that flipped to Biden, Trump’s biggest drop-off was among voters aged 18-29 and 65 and older.
Looks like Trump lost most of them by being a moron about COVID.
The autopsy says that coronavirus registered as the top issue among voters, and that Biden won those voters by a nearly 3-to-1 margin. A majority registered disapproval of Trump’s handling of the virus.

Most voters said they prioritized battling the coronavirus over reopening the economy, even as the president put a firm emphasis on the latter. And roughly 75 percent of voters — most of whom favored Biden — said they favored public mask-wearing mandates.
The Dude should have just worn a Mask.

If Troll had magically stopped the pandemic, he would deserve some prize. He never should have been president.

In before Biden cheated

Trump lost the same way he won, by the skin of his teeth. He won the presidency by 80 000 votes in 4 states, and he lost by roughly the same in 4 states. If 80 000 people decided not to vote, or were stupid and voted for Trump in those 4 states, we could have 4 more years of Trump

If he lost ground then how did he get 13 million more votes?

He is a prick, and his cult are all terrible people, and the decent people voted him out...

1) his handling of the pandemic.

2) his tax cut,

3) Facebook and Twitter doing their job.

4) me, or you would have ben left to the Russian trolls and praying Christians. #4 is a result of #2.

Telling his base voters that voting-by-mail was fraudulent, didn't help either. He suppressed his own damn vote - the freaking idiot.

Because the other side got 7 million more than that which is 4 million more than the last time Trump LOST the popular vote. There is this thing called relativity. Look it up.

I think all the Trumpers voted. Nothing would have stopped them. Maybe a few rioters in solid Trump states didn't vote.

Telling them not to vote by mail was pretty dumb nonetheless. But Trump was going to lose simply because he spent 4 years pandering to his base instead of governing from the center and expanding his base.

He got more poor Whites to vote for him and he swindled some Hispanics with his Biden is a socialist scam. But turnout was huge so both sides got more votes than 2016.

Remember in 2016 a lot of people felt it was a choice between two unlikeable candidates.

Who knows? Apparently, a substantial number of those charged from the NOV 6 D.C. incident didn't vote. Some said there was no use in voting, since it was a fraudulent election.

The fact that Biden received over 7 million votes than Trump and and yet would have lost the EC because of thousands of votes in select states ultimately describes the massive problems with the EC.

Trump's. biggest downfall was he never really expanded his support beyond Republican voters. Sure, he received 11 million or so more votes, and Biden received about 15 million more, but Trump took a massive beat down with Independents. The GOP being the smaller party can't afford to lose independents. In 2016, Trump won them 46%-42% over Clinton, then in 2018 with no Clinton on the ballot, they voted for house Democrats over Republicans 54%-42%. What happened in 2020? they voted for Biden over Trump 54%-41%, which is massive. When was the last time an incumbent president lost Independents to his opponent by such a large margin? in fact, the gap was probably even larger when you consider exit polls are based on in person voting on Election Day, and many Biden voters voted early and by mail.

Trump lost because when a national crisis hit there was no leadership to be found. /thread.

No, that's not how he lost

First, he didn't win 2016 by much

Union workers in the rust belt that couldn't vote for Hilary did vote for Biden

Demographic change in Georgia and Arizona

With differences of 10 & 11K flipping key states, I could see those numbers being in play due to Trump's rhetoric. A decent chunk of Capitol Riot arrestees didn't vote claiming the election was 'fraudulent'.
