5 facts about illegal immigration in the U.S. | Pew Research Center
Not only has the number of illegals coming across the boarder at a received a 46 year low, the number of illegals living in the country is the lowest since 2004 and the number of illegals in the workforce is falling and is about the same as in 2006. So seeing descriptions by cons on this board telling us about the hoards of illegals coming across the border is not True. there is no crisis at our borders. Trump is like usual spewing lies at a mile a minute to get his followers to believe there is so he can "win" his fight with the Dems. If he actually wins the fight this country will use 25 billion dollars to build an ineffective wall, but the trump followers could once again hoot and holler about how great their master in Washington is.

Gee...I wonder why?

Could it be?:

When the Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed, it was only meant to be a “one time” amnesty but it actually turned out to be the beginning of many amnesties that would follow. To date there have been additional amnesties that have been granted to illegal immigrants which include:

Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens.

Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.

Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.

Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America.

Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.

Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens.

LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens

The are currently several bills in the United States congress that could possibly create the 8th Amnesty.

Each amnesty has been on a different scale, some granting amnesty to as little as 125,000 illegal immigrants while others have granted amnesty to almost 1 million illegal immigrants. Currently there are plans to introduce another amnesty to the approximate 12 million illegal immigrants that reside in the United States. Critics claim that immigration amnesties entice an even greater number of illegal migrants, since they hope for another amnesty which can grant them permanent resident status in the United States.
US Immigration Amnesty for illegal Immigrants

Estimates indicate there are over 12 million currently living in the US today. https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/illegal-immigration-statistics/

That's a lot of Amnesties since 1986...small wonder that the numbers seem low yet we keep having an ongoing problem.

First
For those who'd respond talking about terrorists entering across the southern border, forget about it. It's simply not so and even the anti-immigration CIS, along with multiple other organizations -- the State Dept., CATO Institute, and DHS -- know it and says so.

Second:
As of Feb. 2017, it appears from a GAO study, the CBP lacks a methodology to "assess the contributions of pedestrian and vehicle fencing to border security along the southwest border" and had yet to "develop guidance for its process for identifying, funding, and deploying TI assets for border security operations." The Department of Homeland Security concurred with the GAO's findings and recommendations.

More than 1000 people cross the border illegally on average each day. That's 7 days a week, 365 days a year... and we have no idea who they are.

But that's not a problem for anyone who's looking to cultivate voters... Right?

Border control officials and local mayors claim the wall is effective. Leftist liberal dirty mouthed talking heads claim the wall is ineffective. It should not be too hard to decide here who to believe.
