Why Should Liberals Like Libertarian Ideas?

Why Should Liberals Like Libertarian Ideas?

He uses logic far too much for American liberals.
Since about the 1960's liberalism has been about setting up an elite,
who would dictate how the unwashed masses should live.
The Liberal man's burden if you will!

Why Should Liberals Like Libertarian Ideas?

Time was when liberals were more like libertarians, but that time is long past. These days American liberals are authoritarian, elitist, libertine, anti-human enviornmentalist, totally consumed by identity politics and envy of anyone who has any wealth or power. In short, the polar opposite of classical liberalism.

The problem is, liberals simply won't let go of the belief that the government is the answer and no amount of statistics or historic evidence will change that. They put little value on freedom, therefore they see no problem sacrificing it for their vision of a better society.

Well considering he calls American Liberals Social Democrats he does not know what he is talking about. There is a reason Libertarianism is dead in almost every country in the world but the U.S..

Liberals live in the real world so do not fall for the utopian vision of libertarianism.

You forgot commie socialist troop hating fascist self-loathing racist socialist gays. If you are going to use mindless namecalling, at least follow the approved talking points and get them all in.

And of course that is not what liberals believe. That is simply your spin on it. Core liberal belief: the government can and should be an instrument of the people and should serve the people.

Liberals are addicted to OPM(Other Peoples Money). Some take it as part of public dole,
others give it away, to make themselves more powerful, of feel morally superior.
It is not charity, if it is not your money.
Modern liberalism is all about appearances, form over function.

And again with the mindless spin. You guys have your talking points and you won't let reality get in the way of spreading them.

Mindless? I think not. My namecalling is spot on.

My regards to Alan Grayson, who compares the Tea Party to a long time Democratic Party affiliate.

When will conservatives learn that our safety nets are the most important Govt. program to encourage entrepreneurship. Without a back-up if they fail, few would take the chance on a new idea.

We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.”[3] People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

Liberalism is properly defined by what it is against, not a platform of ideas of any sort.

The reason why is because the Democrat Party consists of widely diverse, but tightly knit, fanatical groups, none of whom have any particular affection for each other, but each group envisions success for that group's particular interest by defeating the traditionalist opposition.

This is why so much of Liberal argument consists of ridicule, personal attacks, swearing at the opposition and other techniques to take the place of any sort of intelligent idea presentation.

National success or the future of the country is of no interest to Liberals whatsoever.

You mean the "real world" where the ACA rollout has been "better than anticipated"?

You mean the "real world" where the places where liberals have run for any length of time have been run into the ground (ex: Detroit)?

I could go on about how liberal ideals and how these "ideals" crash and burn Everytime they (the ideals) are allowed to come into effect, or wind up having an outcome opposite to what was the claimed intention.

No, your namecalling is ****ing retarded. It is what people do who cannot make reasoned arguments. Liberals, unlike you and the rest of the zombies do not need a bunch of editorials to tell us what to think, and are not good little soldiers spreading those editorials all over the internets so that other zombies can pat themselves on the back.

Elitist, but disdainful of anyone with wealth or power.

Maybe have a problem there.

This is absolutely false... The opposite of reality, why become an entrepreneur and risk it all when you can just find another job to build enough time to earn the next round of unemployment "benefits"...

Free money breeds laziness, look at the stats, world wide people with unemployment benefits wait until the benefits are almost dried up before even trying to find a new job.

Why take a risk when you are safely caught in the net??

Am I saying we should not have this arrangement?? Well, for some sure it's good... But all in all this system breeds abuse.

Liberalism - government is the solution
Libertarianism - government is the problem

I don't know how you combine those attitudes in a single person.

Libertarianism has a lot to offer. Certainly, their positions on global warfare, drug prohibition and freedom of choice in marriage are things I support. Unfortunately, they (Libertarians) appear to advocate a lack of compassion for our failures. Regrettably, for every genius born, a few morons are also born and while we may resent financing their lives of unambition and poverty, it is implausible to just disregard them and hope for the best.

Each of the 3 recognized parties has something good to offer but when the whole package is completed, it becomes less acceptable. Since America does not understand compromise and each group is insistent on imposing 100% of their ideology (not to mention the incompetence and dishonesty of our paid for politicians), we end up divided while the pendulum swings back and forth.

Ask Woodrow Wilson. Actually, don't. The man will drone on for hours and number his suppositions throughout.

In short, why, in this ever faster, forward moving world that the USA is falling behind in, why would anyone want to revert backwards to classical anything? Moronic to be sure.

Funny, back with these "backwards" classical ideals the US was number 1 in almost every metric... The greater the shift away from those ideals the faster America is falling apart...

You are right.... Moronic to say the least.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, I walk in both worlds, Sciences and Arts.
I am not saying that many Liberals do not have a good heart,
I just wonder if they take their thought process out to a conclusion.
English as a Second Language, ESL is a good example, the intention is good,
Teach non English speakers in their native language until they are up to speed.
The execution is where it falls apart, The Schools make more money for ESL students
and so delay them transitioning, even encouraging English speakers to enroll.
(it happened to my kids every year for about 5 years)
The result of the program is that it insures an endless supply of non English speaking
citizens.
What kind of Success do you expect of a person who does not speak English in the US?

So which of my characterizations of American liberals do you regard as inaccurate?

So, European economic crisis, stagnation, and falling populations is the wave of the future? Who is it that the USA is supposedly falling behind?
