Why Putin ´s horde failed to storm Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol?

Putin doesn't want to lose many more of his dumbass soldiers to the brave 2,000 Ukrainian troops hunkered down at that Azovstal steel plant where approximately 1,000 civilians are taking shelter from this Russian invasion. Putin's plan at this point is to wait and starve them out like the rest of his plan for Ukraine when their shelling doesn't kill Ukrainians. Without medicine, food and water, those stranded eventually die. If only a support Battalion of heavily armed Ukrainians couldn't quietly surround these P-Russian bastards at the steel plant and wipe their sorry asses out.

If he wanted the steel plant to fall he could have bombed it into oblivion, my guess is he wants it intact-ish. ukraine built much of the soviet navy, and mariupol was one of the major centers, the steel mill is also one of the largest in europe, perfect for ship production.

I would guess they did not want large casualties but also did not want to level the plant beyond any repair, meaning they likely plan to repair the plant at some point and put it back into production.

This about it, why was mariupol destroyed yet the most intact area is the steel plant, that hints that the russians value the plant more than the residents of the city.

Well, we know that it was NOT out of decency.

The Russian leadership has no decency.
you are right, Moscow dont have enough shock troops, and infantry in general. they need them all for the last imperial battle (Donbas offense )

Why?

Idiot Russian generals who rose to the general officer ranks during Putin's time as sole dictator. Defense Minister since 2012 when Putin returned to the presidency, Sergy Shoigu put on a military uniform for the first time ever when Putin appointed him and gave him one with the rank of General of the Army. General of the Army my arse.

Indeed the Russian idiot generals should have bypassed the steel plant where Ukrainian Marines are holed up with sheltered civilians instead of stopping or slowing their already hesitant advance to hit the plant lightly and keep flailing for the Ukrainians to surrender. Russian loser generals need to go around the sucker and leave a minimum force to wait out the defending troops and civilians inside to wither down. Continue the offensive advance while forgetting about the steel facility they've always wanted to seize largely intact.

Putin's saving his ammunition.

Russia is running out of troops, as indicated by its callup of 100,000 new draftees plus disinterested reservists. No doubt, the new draftees will be thrown into the fight poorly trained, equipped, prepared. They may not accept the whole of it once thrown into combat.

Russia is calling up cadets from military academies and military secondary schools who are in officer training programs. Utilizing cadets in war is nothing new or unusual, however, it is a definitive sign of desperation. Further, cadets called into combat action are typically used on defense, almost only. These cadet officer candidates will be ordered to participate in leading the offensive.

Russian 3rd line forces attacking the Ukrainian fighters and their new volume of offensive weapons -- artillery, anti tank weapons, drones -- leave reason for the good guys to believe the current Russian offensive has already become based in desperation. This is after Ukraine forces supported by NATO sent the Russian best forces packing back into Russia and Belarus to try to regroup. Indeed this is fast going pear shaped for Russia and Putin.

a good post

Putin's saving his ammunition.
In which lends to Putin's long-range plans aside from taking all of Ukraine, for which we hope won't happen. He'll need way more ammo and bombs if he intends to push into Ukraine's neighboring countries. As a side note, I do hope that there's a last-ditch plan to destroy that steel plant if and when it gets close to the P-Russians taking it. That's one important feather in Putin's stupid hat that he would love to have and eventually bring it back into production.

I thought somebody threw out the trash already.

Clearly then it hasn't happened yet.

So be it, unfortunately.

one for sure the Belarusians know the drill
