Why is the White House releasing US intelligence on Putin's moves in Ukraine? Behind the unusual strategy
It's all hype and hysteria, an effort by the U.S. and its allies to stoke Russia-Ukraine tensions and a pretext for the West to send more military aid to Kyiv.

White House asks Americans in Ukraine to 'depart immediately'

That's how top Kremlin officials and Russia's tightly controlled state media are casting the Biden administration's increasingly stark warnings that Russia could invade Ukraine "any day now." "It's already past midnight, and there are still no Russians," one Russian nationalist news outlet proclaimed in a headline in recent days, mocking Washington's dire warnings.

But experts say the White House's unusual strategy – disclosing U.S. intelligence assessments of a foreign adversary's apparent military plans – may be unsettling Russian President Vladimir Putin, known as a master of propaganda and manipulation.

^^ This is what gaslighting looks like.

The following is pure BS:
"The very public discussion of the Russian threat is designed to keep Moscow off balance," said John Herbst, a longtime U.S. diplomat who was ambassador to Ukraine from 2003 to 2006.

Putin is "off balance" because the US is drum-beating propaganda to it's own citizens to gain public support for US military action?

Have we learned nothing since 9-11? Have we not already sacrificed enough men and women in uniform trying to rule the world?

What about the the thousands upon tens of thousands of dead civilians, wounded and PTSD vets? What is our National interest in Ukraine beyond missile bases pointed at Moscow?

I don’t think it has anything to do with the US getting involved militarily. It’s just an interesting strategy.

"The US is stoking hysteria over our so-called planned Russian 'invasion,' giving even the dates of this 'invasion,' all the while working jointly with its allies to build up Ukraine’s 'military muscle,'" Yury Ushakov, an aide to Putin, told Russian reporters in a briefing after Biden and Putin spoke by phone Friday.

The West is spending "significant funds" to modernize Ukraine's armed forces, "and more military instructors are being sent there," he said. "So, the 'invasion' chorus is a backdrop to create opportunities for possible provocations by the Ukrainian military."
who knows. either way.
But there has been a shitload of high tech weapons sent to Ukraine -almost to a point it's a defacto NATO state.

I smell the intelligence services -or creeps like Vindman and Fiona Hill (both out of government but there are a million droids that can replace them) who basically want to make Ukraine a proxy war against Russia

It's a border war in all likelyhood if it happens - stay the **** out of it- but we wont because the one factor that neocons and neolibs have in common is Russiaphobia..They dont want peace

I find it totally bizarre that so many people in the Trump cult are blaming the US for Russia posturing to invade and making threats. It's a bit like if your neighbor called you and said there are some armed men in your backyard looking like they're going to break into your house. An idiotic Trump supporter would accuse the neighbor of wanting people to break into his house instead of the people actually aiming to break in.

Trump really screwed your guy's brains up and made you anti-American and pro-Russia.

They're not in our backyard. They're in Eastern Europe, on the other side of the world.

You linked to a good article.

Your questions whipsaw back and forth across thinly related topics. I can't make any sense of your commentary.

But that article was good.
Yep, good article.

Lousy interpretation.

Jesus Christ, I know Trump supporters are dense, but in the metaphor the US was the friendly neighbor announcing the thugs were in the neighbor's, Ukraine's, back yard, and Russia are the thugs. You're just messing with me right and couldn't possibly be dense enough to not get the analogy, right?

Your attempt to blame the US for Russia's posturing for invasion is Russian propaganda.

Gaslighting is part of Putin’s strategy. Exposing Putin’s gaslighting is part of Biden’s strategy.
The following is pure BS:
No, it’s an accurate assessment.

The United States is getting out in front of Putin’s disinformation campaign, irrefutably exposing his reducing and withdrawal lies.
Putin is "off balance" because the US is drum-beating propaganda to it's own citizens to gain public support for US military action?
Really dumb interpretation of information. The Biden administration has been absolutely clear that there will be no direct U.S. military involvement. Period.

More utterly clueless blathering.

Nah, Trump capitalized on his supporters inherent profound stupidity and gullibility.

You're all mixed up. The thugs are in Baltimore, Philly, and Chicago.

Your attempt to blame the US for Russia's posturing for invasion is Russian propaganda.

We have no business there except US hegemony.

Have you noticed that India, Singapore, Nigeria, and Costa Rica aren't rushing troops and weapons to the war effort?

Have the Dutch locked and loaded? LOL

No, it's just propaganda.

Nonsense. This is all being played out in the media for it's audience: the American public.

The Biden administration has been absolutely clear that there will be no direct U.S. military involvement. Period.

LOL! Is that what we spend trillions of defense money on? to stand around and not push the buttons?

More utterly clueless blathering.

...from you.

The more Putin's manoeuvres are publicized, the less credibility any unrest is Ukraine will have as cause for war. Russia isn't sequestered from Western media to the extent China is, so making sure the Russian people are aware of the real reasons for (possible) war, is more important that informing Americans.

I think Biden is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill as a last ditch effort to save his Presidency. Create fear since Covid is dying on the vine.

Putin’s disinformation campaign
There's no such thing!

The spread of DISINFORMATION is nearly EXCLUSIVELY AMERICAN(& allied)! It's been so ever since WW2. I wouldn't even call it a "campaign" as it's a fundamental characteristic of American policy. False claims, false accusations, false flags, double standards - they're all standard American behavior on the international scene(and even internally).

The U.S. is releasing intelligence on Russian intentions because it is hoping to forestall a Russian invasion, but isn't willing to bring the credible threat of kinetic force to bear in order to affect it. By releasing information we have gathered on Russian intent to use a false flag operation, therefore, we discredit it when/if it does happen, and, hopefully, push the Russians to wonder whether or not a plan based on an attempt at deception would work, if the deception had already been exposed.

Putin may only care what the audience in who only receives the information he wants them to receive cares, so, it may not prove the most effective tactic, but, that is the intent.

It is worth noting that this will probably impose a cost on the US. Only so many people would have been in the room for a discussion of a MILDEC, and Russia is a sophisticated counter-intelligence adversary. We are probably burning access in order to try to make it slightly less likely that Russia invades a sovereign nation.

The U.S. is releasing intelligence on Russian intentions
The US doesn't have such intelligence and would not release it anyway. The CIA&Co. are only spreading disinformation, as they have always done.

American politicans&deep state criminals actually do want Russia to invade Ukraine and they do everything they can to determine Russia to invade - including providing Ukraine with weapons and encouraging them to attack the rebels in the Donbas region - which is likely to receive a Russian response.

A bit of sanity and truth -- however unpalatable for traditional and patriotic Americans .

And still so predictable and clumsy by the CIA, even after 70 + years of practise .

Its a good strategy and its not gaslighting. Just as Biden claiming that Putin is going to attack is not false flagging, exposing Putin's effort to build a pretext for attack is not false flagging.

Now Putin trying to make the case that Ukraine after years of conflict in the East has chosen to escalate that conflict now that it has 190,000 Russian and troopers and fully 60% of all Russian Conventional military assets surrounding it......THAT IS GASLIGHTING.

When you criticize the US for disinformation simply for reporting what the Russians are doing, but don't criticize the Russians who are far worse with it and who are actually postured to invade Ukraine, your posts sound like they were written in a Russian troll farm.

Imagine if this is all a smokescreen while Russia sneaks up on North Korea!

Biden: "Russia...intending to attack Ukraine"- Flag Rally to Stop Approval Rating Plunge?

Biden ‘convinced’ Russia intends to attack Ukraine within days (link)

Above article came out in advance of Presidential address where Biden declared Russia was about to engage in "“catastrophic and needless war of choice” (link). Is this an effort to "rally round the flag" (link, excerpts below):
Quote:

Political scientist John Mueller described the phenomenon (of rallying around the flag) in a 1970 landmark paper called “Presidential Popularity from Truman to Johnson.” Mueller defined it as arising from an event with three qualities: it’s international, it involved the country as a whole and it’s specific and dramatic.
While I never saw it the movie "Wag the Dog" had the same theme I am told. This has all the elements:
  1. Biden's poll numbers are tanking
  2. His leadership is widely derided in popular chants
  3. He is a walking gaff machine;
  4. Inflation is visibly rampant, obvious at the gas pump and the grocery store
It's a great time for a crisis. And this over a country that had until 1990 never been independent. Also, last I heard, doesn't the Biden family have business interests there? Makes you wonder.
