For all the disagreement on campaign finance law there is one hard and fast rule that has no gray areas and upon which most all Americans agree. That is, citizens of other nations cannot contribute to federal, state, or local candidates in the United States.

Not only is Trump soliciting donations from Brits, but from Icelanders as well. He is soliciting campaign contributions from liberal foreigners, as well as conservative foreigners. This is..... well...... very illegal. I think the time has come for Republicans to seriously consider replacing him as the nominee. This may be just the motivation they need to oust him.

While I believe Trump would make a terrible candidate and a worse President, it is plausible that his disorganized campaign got an email list and is spamming it, without vetting it properly first.

I don't think this will be sufficient to shut down his nomination.

It might be very illegal but it's common practice with liberal Democrats. Donald Trump has been a Democrat for his entire life. President Obama had an internet site that specifically hid the country of the donor which he used in both of his elections. Sen. Clinton has certainly had campaign funds coming from foreign sources, notably Chinese.

I found it interesting that the article would mention the Clinton's involvement in almost the same kind of thing...well, actually a worse kind of thing...that actually involved the whole Democratic Party. According to the article's own link, not only was it quite clear who did what, it was quite clear that the typical, tried-and-true tactics of impeding an investigation were used back then...just as they are used nowadays.

In any case, since this event involving the Trump people hasn't even risen to the level of that past instance involving the Clintons and the Democrats I think a warning would suffice instead of the knee-jerk, "throw the book at them" response.

One can...and should...also factor this in when deciding to vote for Trump, just as one can...and should...factor in the long history that Clinton has of illegal and inappropriate behavior and activities.

As for myself...despite this alleged situation, I still consider Trump to be the lesser of two evils.
