Why I Will Never Be a Tea Partier

No, my problem is an irresistible urge to try and counter authority regardless of the consequences. That and I've been told I have boundary issues :)

Sounds like a great wayto take care of a family. :ssst:

Speaking of resistance to authority figures and all that, you would think you would be a less vulgar partisan hack towards the tea party and rail against the government intervention and intrusion into your life. But i guess authority is ok if it means free stuff

Maybe I see the domination of society by those with more financial resources than their fellow man as a bigger source of authority :)

Maybe we are. Or it could be we worked harder and smarter.

That's nice. An opulent lifestyle has almost nothing to do with happiness for me.

He says this:
I detest ideological conformity and intolerance

But then he says this:

I have always believed that conservatism means not only a certain set of political views but also (and perhaps even primarily) a certain disposition (and there’s a meaningful distinction between a “conservative” and a “man of the right”). . . . I get nauseous whenever I catch a glimpse of Oprah. I loathe touchy-feelyness (especially of the “let’s do it for the children!” kind). I hate victimhood and whining. . . I like cold rational calculation and even a certain mean streak inherent in conservatism. I like a no-nonsense attitude and the vibe of maturity and adulthood.

Pardon me - but he conflicts his own 'beliefs and values' in those few lines.

He is, in fact, a typical Alpha-male, all too common in the Conservative corner - and he seems to have chosen his opinions in his little blog bit based on his feelings - or rather - how much he doesn't want people to think he has feelings. Because feelings make you gay, I guess

Nevermind the politics!
This guys view is all about his emotions!

I guess when he's pointing fingers at others he's still using *the one* finger.

That strategy requires that you be able to assume a form at the last possible moment and attack while the enemy is unaware. The teabagger movement does NOT have that kind of organization or strategy.

good point.

remind me, who won the senate election in massachusetts, again?

who is leading for senate seats in florida, kentucky, nevada, alaska... ?

Did democrats, you think, anticipate having to spend resources to defend barbara boxers' seat? manchin in West Virginia? barney frank? do you think establishment republicans expected Mike Castle to lose in Delaware?

or did a tea party backed candidate zoom into existance in all these races (and plenty others), coalescing all kinds of unexpected support even deep in the establishments' rear?

if there is anything that has been flexed this year, it's Tea Party muscle.

Betting on the sunrise is usually a safe bet. The opposition party virtually ALWAYS picks up a good number of seats after a presidential election. The teabagger's "muscle" is manifesting as something that almost always happens anyways.

you din't catch the specifics.

1. the opposition party's pick up this cycle is looking to be way out o proportion with 'what virtually always happens'. that is a direct reflection of the tea party turnout.

2. each of those races mentioned is notable for who the candidate is. if this were a typical 'the opposition party wins' election, then we would see typical opposition party candidates. in each of these (and again, there are others, this is only off the top of my head), however, the 'party candidate' lost the primary to a Tea Party candidate.

but keep on telling everyone different. there is almost nothing better than having your opponents underestimate you :D

You need to go to either the University of Terrorism or Criminality. Having been involved in Criminal Justice it is technically possible to make a gun without metal.

I started out like most people, lots of "teabag" jokes ... now after months of the media and everyone else ripping on them I'm starting to actually listen to what they say and find myself agreeing more times than not. (other than the obvious insanity from the likes of O'Donnell)

Kind of like christianity, the more people rip on it, the more inclined I am to actually listen to its precepts. Basically, when the masses hate something, its my clue to start looking into it!

Sort of tongue in cheek, but ... sort of not.

The American masses go totally rabid at the mouth at the mention of the word "socialism". Have you considered trying it?

Are you honestly asking this question?

If you are this is my response;

I hate socialism, communism, fascism, communtarianism and every other collectivist type system out there because they all use the power of the state to take away what I work for under the bull**** banner for the "public good". The state being in control of areas that the public sector can easily do is never a good thing, the state is only supposed to be a referee and only a referee, not a store, and neither a parent. I dont want to pay for health care for those I hate, I want them to suffer extensively and eventually die in extreme pain. Capitalism isnt perfect but its the best system out there

I have never heard in my life any president call citizens thugs and criminals and Nazi's. that tore it for me. but then I refuse to accept this 1/2 breed as a prez. he's an illegal alien.

I joined because; I need to be the thorn in the side of- the two partiers .
Man, they are like ticks feeding on the host of democracy. I need to see changes that move America away from this" euroeconomic - cultural model, of exporting our nationality" to anyone who will trade goods with us for the promise - that they'll give us a cheaper tomorrow.
To me its like watching the democracy's of the world have one big race to the bottom.
Change the leadership in either the dems & reps- you keep the tools they both use to control and manipulate Commerce and foreign policy so they can continue to perpetuate the, policys that are being used against - not for democratic nations national soveriegnity.
