Why go for prostitutes

I'm very good friends with a girl who used to be an escort. All the girls she worked with were pretty to beautiful in looks, and most only took on one client a day. Of course they could afford to, seeing as they made $400 an hour. They didn't charge more for different things but they all had things they wouldn't do. They worked out of a downtown loft and had a secretary to book their appointments.

A lot of prostitution is sleezy, but not all of it is.

I agree. Having sex with a total stranger for $400/hour isn't sleazy at all.
I don't know how anyone could think that.

I'm not sure where this hatred of prostitution comes from. I mean, it's like Prohibition. When you ban it, it only drives it underground. Then, it can't be regulated by the government, resulting in STDs, near-slavery, and worse.
Prostitutes are supplying a service that doesn't hurt people and that they choose to indulge in. Therefore, it's not really any of your business.

I really, truly, cannot grasp how making prostitution illegal can help things. At least if the government can regulate it, people will be safer!

I don't know how anyone can think that either, but they do. Not only that, but some think it's "sleazy" simply because of the monetary transaction.

I actually think it's "sleazier" to be paid $5/hr to wait on someone hand and foot and be their "servant". But for some reason, that's "respectable" since it doesn't involve the dreaded penis or all-powerful vaginas.

who's talking about legality ?
I'm talking about sleazy.

Government regulation and people's safety in the same sentence ? How neat.

You're welcome to think whatever you want is sleazy. I happen to think indoctrinating children into Christianity is sleazy, but it's done routinely. Just because you or I think a practice is morally offensive doesn't mean it should be illegal.

I'll repeat, I never said anything about illegal.
What's more, I never introduced anything about Christianity into the fray.
Third, that argument is teetering on the "two wrongs make a right" edge anyway.
Fourth, thank you for the permission to think whatever I want to think.

Lastly, If they are not sleazy, they are still whores.

Ah, sleazy. Define it, please. Because it sounds totally arbitrary, a word applied to something you don't find morally acceptable without coming out and actually saying *why* it's bad.

And yes, government regulation and people's safety in the same sentence.
You think that if they made STD checks mandatory for prostitutes, it wouldn't make people safer?

Of course they're whores.. we're talking about prostitutes. That's kind of redundant, isn't it?

But then again, we're all whores to some extent, since we all sell ourselves.

There is always a price for sex. Whether it be cash up front, or your soul in a marriage, you will pay. You will pay....:2razz:

Wouldn't you have to make random STD checks for everyone if you did this? Otherwise you'd be singling out one group. How 'bout the men who use prostitutes?

In a society with children their welfare has to be taken into account in all things. Prostitution is not conducive to rearing good kids. It causes confusion as to what is right, and what is wrong. Children require nurturing for a very long time. You don't have a kid, and tomorrow they are ready to get a job.

Morals are what we live for, really. We are all trying to be better than the next guy. At least I think we are for the most part. This is human nature. Prostitution is totally unnecessary. It's just weakness to think you need to go to one. It's not a sign of strength.

Well, most of their clients were unbelievably wealthy. A lot of them would take the girl out for dinner, the opera, three-four hour dates....at $400/hour. Not to metion the gifts their regulars would give them. It's made me second guess my career option a couple times.

It doesn't last that long for the high end girls though. I guess the Pretty Woman myth is a big reality in some areas. The "pimp" or "Madame" or whatever you want to call it for my friend (she was actually the lady that owned the condo and provided the secretary...for 10% of their earnings), expected most girls to last 6 months before they either hooked up/fell in love with one of their clients or became their permanent girlfriend. In other words, said client would pay the girl to be exclusive. True to form, my friend lasted nine months and now lives with one of her clients. C'est l'amour.

BTW, I did want to iterate the truth in this post. Yes, the "Pretty Woman Myth" is more reality than some would have you believe. My experience sounds much like your friend's. Clients were very wealthy (and you might be surprised where some of them worked and who they were ;)) Some wanted to take me to extravagant dinners (one at the White House), almost all gave me huge tips on top of the flat fee. One client liked to bring a bottle of expensive wine with him and drink it in front of my fireplace with me before we engaged in any "activity". That was an hour he paid for just to sit and drink wine with me. At $450/hr. Almost all the men were attractive and successful, and all were certainly wealthy. And, near the end of my stint, two of them wanted to "keep" me as their "mistress". I was offered cars, apartments, as well as a "salary" to just hang around and be there on call for them when they wanted. Honestly... I've kicked myself in the *** more than once for not taking one of them up on the offer for at least a little while.

LMAO Ain't that the truth. ;) It is *never* free.

As someone else said:

The big difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs a lot less.

The thing is what would you have without the marriage? I'd say most people will take the marriage. Companionship is worth a lot. I know if you can't get a human you can get a four-legged companion, but sometimes it's nice to have a human around, and know they are there.

Marriage is probably 50% the sex, and then you have all the other things that you get out of it. Kids, even if they are ungrateful, they are quite nice for a while. They make you a real grown up. They make you think about someone else.

You can have kids and companionship without marriage.

But, you're still gonna have to pay for the sex. ;)

Crippler mentioned the marriage bit.

You can have lots of stuff without marriage, but for the sake of property and children it's better to be married. It's easier to divvy up married stuff, and it's easier to get custody, support, visitation with a marriage certificate. It can be done without, but it will probably cost you more, and you may not have the leverage. Plus it shows kids what committment is. Being married is harder than living together in that you can cheat , pick up and leave a lot easier, not being married.

Both parties are paying for the sex in a marriage, it's a two-way street. So I think it cancels itself out. You don't stay young forever in marriage, sometimes the winner becomes the loser later on.

Exactly.
That is why I am so adamantly opposed to the government preventing gays from marrying.

Ok what i wanna know is way do people want to be with prostitutes at all.I mean even an ugly guy could surely go to a club and take a women home for free plus its alot better because she wants to too.
Is there somekind of sexual turn on for payin for sex?

"No business can afford to create a product for which there are no buyers. The first step in understanding the sex industry is to understand the customers, the johns.

"Real sexual relationships are not hard to find. There are plenty of adults of both sexes who are willing to have sex if someone treats them well, and asks. But there lies the problem. Some people do not want an equal, sharing relationship. They do not want to be nice. They do not want to ask. They like the power involved in buying a human being who can be made to do almost anything.

"The business of prostitution and pornography is the use of real human beings to support the fantasies of others. Anyone working in prostitution who tells a john too much about who they really are, interferes with the fantasy. They risk losing a customer, and may get a beating as well. In real relationships with real people, you are stuck with the limitations of who you are, who your partner is, and what you can do together without hurting each other.

"Some people do not want real relationships, or feel entitled to something beyond the real relationships they have. They want to play "super stud and sex slave" or whatever, inside their own heads. If they need to support their fantasies with pictures, video tapes, or real people to abuse, the sex trade is ready to supply them. For a price, they can be "a legend in their own minds."

"The most common type of prostitution customer is the user. He is quite self-centered, and simply wants what he considers to be his needs met.

"The user would deny any intent to harm anyone, and might even claim some empathy for the sex workers he uses. However, his empathy does not extend to discontinuing his using behavior, nor to helping anyone escape from the sex industry. He does not care whether the person he is using is unwilling or unusually vulnerable. He simply feels entitled to whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. If someone is hurt, that is not his problem.

"He sees himself as a respectable person, and works to protect that appearance. Users provide a large, safe, and steady income for the pimps and other "businessmen," of the sex industry.

"Sadists are people who have the ability to take pleasure in another person's fear, pain, or humiliation. They constitute about ten percent of the population. Sadists vary in severity, ranging from those who just make you feel bad, on up to those who do torture murders. There is a definite practice effect. If allowed to hurt people often, their sadism gets worse.

"Physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by sadists drives their child victims into the street, trying to escape. The pimps and "chickenhawks" take it from there.

"Sadists are attracted to prostituted women and children because they are willing to get into a car or come to a place where the sadist can be in control. Sadism is about control. Hurting people who cannot stop them is their most intense and pleasurable form of control.

"Sadists play close attention to matters of power. They are most brutal with small women and children, and are more careful with larger women and men. They avoid people who may have someone to protect them, or someone who may take revenge on the victim's behalf.

"There are pimps who specialize in supplying victims to sadists, and who base their fees on the amount of damage done to the victim.
Sadists are found at all levels of society, including the respected and powerful. They often use this, saying, "You are just a whore, nobody is going to believe you." If they do kill someone, they are very aware that, to some extent, the effort society puts into finding the killer will reflect the value placed on the victim. People working in prostitution are safe victims.

"Necrophiles are people who can take pleasure in filth, degradation, and destruction. They are the users of the sick, the old, the psychotic, the brain damaged, the "tracked" and tattooed casualties of the sex industry, in the end stages of their lives. For necrophiles, broken bodies and broken minds are a turn on. They glory in their superiority over ruined human beings, and feel entitled to express their contempt in every way.

"Necrophiles must keep their perversion secret from their friends and families, both to protect their social standing, and to protect their fantasies of superiority. Normal people just would not understand.

"Child molesters participate in the sex industry in several ways. Some have been aware of a sexual attraction to children, often of a particular age and sex, from some time in late childhood. They then make the choice to act on it.

"Some have sadistic characteristics. Children are easier than adults to control. The molester’s own children, in his own home, are the easiest of all to control.

"Necrophilic child molesters enjoy the knowledge that, when the molesters are finished with them, the children's lives will never be the same. They enjoy the fact that the children may later self-destruct in addiction, prostitution or suicide. It proves that they were right.

"Sex offenders against children operate with varying degrees of sophistication. Some do careful "grooming." They use pornography to break down resistance, and supply drugs, alcohol, and money. Others just start out with forcible rape. Many claim unusual "love" for children. They claim that sex between adults and children is not harmful, and should be legalized. Pedophiles actually teach children that they are helpless, hopeless, worthless, and only good for sex and hurting.

"A large portion of workers in the sex trade started out as sexually abused children. Some were even "broken in" by being shared with or rented out to others by their own families.

"There are specialist pimps who provide children to johns. The fees vary depending on the age, sex and appearance of the child, as well as the amount of damage the child has already incurred.

"When caught, the pimps and johns claim not to have known the child's real age. There is a market for small adults made up to look like children, both for direct sex and for pornography. But the truth is in the fees: real children sell for more than fake ones

Um, he asked about why guys pay prostitutes for sex, not about necrophiliacs, sadists, and pedophiles.

My guess is two-fold:

1. some guys are so insecure and socially inept that they want a "sure thing", and perceive a prostitute to be such.

2. because of the mystique/taboo that the media, the entertainment industry, and our entire culture has woven around the issue of sex work, some guys simply want to meet a real prostitute and have that experience, out of curiosity to see what women who sell sex for money are like.

and possibly a little of this:

3. A guy wants a sexual service that's a little bit unconventional/risque (whether that be S&M or some sort of fetish or whatever), and is embarrassed to ask any woman he knows or is likely to see again socially.

Frankly, I think our best bet for understanding this is to defer to the woman on this thread who has actually worked in the sex industry (which would be Rivrrat), or else the one who has a close friend who has (which would be Kelzie). Both of whom, I should add, seem to be alive, kickin', and in good spirits, having apparently avoided being strangled by a pimp, molested by a necrophiliac sadist, or falling victim to the myriad other dire and fatal hazards Jerry keeps insisting are inherent in the profession.

Whoever wrote this is woefully ignorant of so much about prostitution and especially about BDSM. For every sadist out there, there's at least 1, if not more, masochists seeking THEM out. And, not many of them use prostitution as a means of finding likeminded people. Millions of them use online 'dating' sites specifically designed for it where they don't have to pay anyone anything. The masochists are eager to hook up with the sadists, they're actively seeking them out.

There are any number of reasons why men choose to go to a prostitute. But most often, it's just because they tire of the BS games that many women require before they'll sleep with them. The clients are honest about what they want, and I hold them in MUCH higher regard than men who "woo" women to get the same thing from them, or buy them with gifts, dinners, etc.

There's nothing wrong with a man, or woman, knowing exactly what they want and going about getting it in the easiest, less stressful way possible.

1. some guys are so insecure and socially inept that they want a "sure thing", and perceive a prostitute to be such.
Some of them, certainly. And they wanted to be made to feel they were something special. Prostitutes are good at making a man feel as though he's a god in her world. Even though they know deep down it's just a job... they still feel good for that period of time.

2. because of the mystique/taboo that the media, the entertainment industry, and our entire culture has woven around the issue of sex work, some guys simply want to meet a real prostitute and have that experience, out of curiosity to see what women who sell sex for money are like.
Again, some of them certainly.

3. A guy wants a sexual service that's a little bit unconventional/risque (whether that be S&M or some sort of fetish or whatever), and is embarrassed to ask any woman he knows or is likely to see again socially.
This is a big reason too. I heard more than once, "My wife won't do this...", or "My girlfriend won't let me do that..."

The other is, as I mentioned in my last post, that they just don't want to have to deal with the social ritual involved with getting the average woman in bed.

Frankly, I think our best bet for understanding this is to defer to the woman on this thread who has actually worked in the sex industry (which would be Rivrrat), or else the one who has a close friend who has (which would be Kelzie). Yes, amazing isn't it? That me and all the women who worked with me managed to come away so unscathed. It boggles the mind.

Or does it?

We were treated like queens. And if we weren't treated like queens, we walked out the door. And if, for some reason, we were unable to walk out the door we could hit a speed dial number on the cell phone and our body guard (if we asked for one to begin with) would be there momentarily to kick some ***. Or even just yell, since said guards would wait right outside if we wanted them too. But that - oddly enough - never happened.

I don't believe that one.

Yeah, but what you had to do to make a buck-yukkk!

I've seen some of the guys that frequent these places, and I wouldn't want to have sex with them. I mean these are people many times who can't get a GF and there's probably a reason for this. Even millionaires can stink and want a blow job. Yukkkk! No thank you! Or, how about the really old ones? Yukk, again! I mean somebody that's over 70 needs to stay home with the missus.

That movie "Pretty Woman" was a fantasy.

I don't believe that one.
On what basis do you call me a liar?

Yeah, but what you had to do to make a buck-yukkk!
It was a helluva a lot more than a buck. But I've done worse... like waitressing.

I had the choice of taking a second, part-time waitressing job at night to deal with my financial problems, or work for this 'escort' service. I chose (get this.. CHOSE) the latter. I couldn't for the life of me rationalize working for less than minimum wage as a waitress, all night long, being exhausted at my full time job the next day and ending up taking home only a couple hundred a week... if that. When my other option was to work one - two hours a week and make $1000 in that time. The choice, my friend, was a no-brainer. I'll take the escort service over waitressing any day of the week.

I've seen some of the guys that frequent these places, and I wouldn't want to have sex with them. I mean these are people many times who can't get a GF and there's probably a reason for this. While I don't doubt there are many unnattractive men who see prostitutes, there aren't any more who see them than you see in a bar on the average night. There was only one client I would have called terribly unnattractive. Two that were incredibly attractive (not to mention they were quite skilled as well ;) ), and the rest were in between.

That movie "Pretty Woman" was a fantasy.
No, the movie is a movie. However, situations like "Pretty Woman" happen quite often. (i.e., the rich client falling for the prostitute he hired) It happens, A LOT.

One of the reasons I quit the service was not because of what the job was, but because of the fact that too many of the clients fell for me. It made the job difficult when they began having a hard time seeing it as a job for me. When they began to express sentiments of caring, love, etc... and I didn't feel the same way... it made the job too stressful for me. Because I don't want to hurt anyone, and some of the clients fell hard, and fell fast. As I said before, I was offered apartments, cars, and a "salary" (or allowance as they called it) to just hang around and be their mistress. The reason I didn't do it had nothing to do with the sex, and everything to do with the emotions *they* had and I didn't.
