First, to be clear, I'm referring to the long-established UN Declaration of Human Rights, which the US (up until now) has been pressing other countries to accept.

Article 25.

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

Why have conservatives and libertarians been so dead set against this? Allowing Americans to live so far below the poverty level hurts both the economy and national security. To make it happen for the sake of a tax cut is completely and utterly stupid.

A lot of it is substance abuse and drug related my friend. The issue is much more complex than you present.

Everyone has the right to work for and/or otherwise ethically acquire and enjoy an adequate standard of living and should not be denied that right because of who or what they are.

Nobody has the right to demand that others provide that for them.

Is that why every time a state tries to drug test people on welfare they find that 98% of people tested pass with flying colors and it ends up costing more to test them than they end up saving?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

Ya. That doesn't work in the real world. Sorry.

Are you sure? Because we're like literally the only 1st world nation who is really struggling with it at this point.

Too small of a sample size. I find that number, 98% hard to believe.

Nah, bruh. That's simply you projecting your flight of fancy onto an issue totally irrelevant to it.

No one is advocating for that.

What's wrong then with bringing jobs back from those countries that are the worst offenders? Having a job is the first step to get the able bodied out of poverty. Once that is taken care of, we have more than enough to supply those who can't, the elderly, the infirm. No?
Economy has picked up.
National security includes border security. No?

Like the rat-infested, typhoid-fever homeless streets of the very liberal, Democratic-lead California?

It’s hard to govern effectively when the state’s finances are being strangled by the inability to raise taxes.

Proposition thirteen was a mistake

Its not that complicated. The US was not formed on the socialist utopian ideas of "everyone has a right to free ****". What the US WAS formed on and is still the driver of economic success in the US today is that people have the right to aspire to wealth and success.

BUT....

Lets make sure we are ALL perfectly clear here. I (nor any other conservative I know) am NOT opposed to you and every other like minded liberal and leftist gathering your resources and giving freely to ensure that EVERYONE can have ALL those things you profess a belief in. YOU and every other like minded leftist can pool your resources with the leftists in Hollywood and other parts of the entertainment community, with the Bill Gates of the world, Tom Steyer, Sussman, Fred Eychaner, Bloomberg, George Soros, and al the rich elected leftist politicians, sell off your largess, and give that **** away. NOTHING is stopping you. Hell...with all the leftists in this country bleating on about the virtues of socialism, one would think you would have actually ACTED on your rhetoric by now.

Since...you know...you actually BELIEVE in the **** you are spewing.

I am yet to see anyone who says that jobs need to be brought back actually have a plan on how they are going to do it.

What should be done to clean up the streets of San Francisco and LA? What will actually work? Assuming you think they need to be cleaned up, that is...

News Flash! The United States of America was set up as a republic based on minimal govt and self reliance. We don't believe in universal standards of living to include food, clothing and shelter controlled by govt entitites.

I think more illegals shipped in daily to those locations would help. They'll do what Americans won't.

Did you see the recent unemployment #s? I haven't seen so many "we are hiring" signs in a long time. Something is working.

It's amazing to me that someone can actually be brainwashed so badly that they would post something like this. Those jackasses in Sacramento take waaaay too much of our money already, and squander most of it on state retirement payouts, $100K a year bus drivers and illegal aliens...

They should all be thrown out, starting with that bozo of a governor.

Because they are oligarchs, protectors of property and wealth and hostile to democratic ideals.

You can see it everywhere.

Lower corporate taxes and deregulation have already been done, and jobs are returning.
