If races are meant to be integrated together why do whites sit with whites, blacks sit with blacks, mexicans sit with mexicans etc. etc, in work cafeterias or school cafeterias? If your goal is to get rid of racism, I don't know why anyone would celebrate this number, because the issue is not that whites would not be treated as a minority, but rather, they would act like a minority. With only the information you've provided, because google had nothing on this alleged tally, it looks to me as if he was tracking racial and minority gains in our overall population.

Is this somehow objectionable? He probably gets those percentages from government census data. That's legal, isn't it? The fact that you felt the need for a poll on this is puzzling. What is your problem with Potok's tally?

Little to nothing to worry about, the shift in the demographics of the nation are well documented.

And it tends to scare the hell out of those on the far right.

It scares the hell out of certain groups of white men, who have been running this country since the founding. That's why they couldn't stand it when Obama got elected, and were apoplectic when he got re-elected. That's why they are currently in full panic mode because congress now includes more than 100 women, something that IMHO is long overdue, since women have only been allowed to even VOTE for 100 years. And minorities! And (gasp!) people who aren't even Christians, some of whom are openly Muslim! Scary stuff for a lot of those guys.

Those changing demographics are driving the biggest part of our current left-vs-right rancor. When we look at those who have power over our lives, we want to see ourselves in them.
