Alright, no, this is flat out preposterous.

The claim is not entirely without merit. Conservatism in this country is being usurped by populists and religious zealots, who have largely succeeded at making themselves the public face of American conservatism. Conservative intellectuals are being marginalized in our political discourse in favor of dominionist preachers and hatemongering radio personalities.

Compare how many people recognize-- and idolize-- Michael Savage versus how many recognize George Will. Or, as we witnessed a couple months ago, think Ben Stein is a liberal because he's a Hollywood Jew who supports the progressive income tax.

These people do hate education and intellectualism. They do hate the truth. They're wearing the word "conservative" the way a five-year-old wears his father's suits, and they're passing themselves off as the real deal.

I don't think true conservatives hate education and intellectualism.
The false conservatives who get all the media play aren't exactly the most intellectual, but to say conservatives hate education is just a straw man argument against the conservative ties to far right wing christianity.
And as for debates on this site, I can certainly say that there are uneducated idiots on both sides of the spectrum.
Just being a liberal doesn't automatically ensure you have a higher understanding of anything.
