The crux of the matter perhaps, might be this... snip

Just thought this was pretty interesting, don't know if I've ever heard of something like this before, where a Government asked Western Media not to air an interview their head of state just gave freely, of his own accord.

Would be a disgrace if they didn't air it.

Interesting.

I see their point. Much of the middle east is still a collection of tribes and it is in their DNA to hate on Israel and anyone that even speaks their name or acknowledges they exist. The parties probably feel that progress will be better in less attention is brought to Egypt's cooperation with Israel in countering lawlessness of all political stripes. For years Egypt has battled fighters led by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

So IMO, it's about keeping Israels name out of the news so the tribes don't go all bat **** crazy.

It’s not even got to involve the Israelis. If you have never seen the 1962 film,” Lawrence of Arabia,” I recommend it. There is a scene near the end that depicts Lawrence and his Arab allies entering Damascus, (I think I have the city correct,) as Lawrence is dividing up the administration of the city, (water works, electrical generation, and all the other agencies needed to operate an urban area,) he gives once tribe this and another tribe that until all the bases are covered. This arrangement doesn’tlast Long as the tribes find beefs with each other almost immediately. The municipal water is turned to this tribe and they retaliate and withhold electricity ansd so on. Note: I cannot find a video clip......

But it gives me a reason to watch the movie again!

Although the Egyptian military leadership understands the benefits of working with Israel in the Sinai (military bases and convoys have been attacked), this cooperation probably would not go over well with the Egyptian populace.

Ah, I remember that scene well.

Tell them to go right ahead..............and loose their media license in Egypt and possibly also in Israel.
