Why can't women have soccer as their job?

I think it's unfair that at least here in Sweden the women in the top serie can't have soccer as their only job. They have to work during the days because they don't make enough money to live on by playing soccer. The men, of course, don't need to have a job besides soccer. By this they can practice during the days when the womens are working. They can practice more and become better players. Now when we're making the community more gender equal maybe this is a question to think about.

Simply have to get more people to attend women's football games to raise revenues from ticket sales and advertising. There's no reason the sport cannot grow to a level where the players can make a decent living. On a personal note I'd rather not see it reach quite the heights of excess that men's football has, grossly overpaid pricks tend to annoy me.;)

Of course there's the question of how to encourage that growth, a decent start might be to put a women's game on the same ticket as a men's game, certainly at club levels. The fans get two games to watch and the women's team can more easily tap an audience that is already into football.

It is indeed, but subsidising the womens game is not a practical solution. The growth has to come from genuine support. That shouldn't be a problem, speaking for the UK we really need to re-prioritise sports in general for a multitude of reasons: Child obesity, youth delinquancy, community integration, etc. I hesitate to say it, but having witnessed the US approach to collegiate sports I think we need to take a leaf out of their book.

Tell me, is male Soccer subsidized by the Swedish government? And if it is not, why should female Soccer be?

Equalizing end results is unjust.

Here's another scenario for you, women dominate colleges in the US, should there be positive discrimination in favor of men?

The standards in womens football are piss poor simply because not enough women play at a base level.

nearly every guy i knew played soccer when they where younger some of them could of played for top team if the pool was as small as for women.
