A genuine question, I am curious. Why aren't they included in it? Instead of just men between the ages of 18-25, why not include women in it? More potential troops to be drafted, and it would strive more towards the Equality that woman seek. Yet again, a genuine question, I have a feeling some would see this as misogynistic
Congress would need to pass a law amending the Military Selective Service Act. Since 2016, women are not barred from combat positions, so it's a good question.A genuine question, I am curious. Here's a predicament.
Are trans women subject to the Selective Service?
Right wingers must have to turn themselves inside out to figure out an answer.
Will it be:
"They were born as males so they have to register!"
or
"We can't have any trans women in the military because we don't want them screwing up morale."
The answer they really want is:
"Oh just lock them up. We'll figure out a reason later."
Didn't Hegseth just kick trans people out of the military? Here's a predicament.

So that would be a rather drastic way to get out of serving. Either that or find a doctor to claim you have "bone spurs."Didn't Hegseth just kick trans people out of the military?
I agree, I just didn't want to widen the discussion. There should not be any forced military service.
Period.
There should not be any forced military service.
Period.
But they never do have to send their own family members. Did Trump go?Then its always going to be the economically disadvantaged that join.
These silly pretend "wars" would stop REAL quick if these turds had to send their own family members.
I am against a draft, due to the way it ****s up the military, but if there is going to be a draft, it should include everyone 18-25, with no exceptions whatsoever.A genuine question, I am curious. Even with Selective Service, it’s always been the economically disadvantaged. Then its always going to be the economically disadvantaged that join.

For one thing, without compulsory military service Donald Trump might never have been born in America. His grandfather fled Bavaria to avoid military service and was refused when he tried to return so Trumps father was born in the Bronx. There should not be any forced military service.
Period.
Even with Selective Service, it’s always been the economically disadvantaged.
Look at our current POTUS.
He dodged the draft.
This is what the draft did.
Approximately 300,000 African Americans served in the Vietnam War. In 1965, African Americans filled 31% of the ground combat battalions in Vietnam, while the percentage of African Americans as a minority in the general population was 12%. In 1965, African Americans suffered 24% of the U.S. Army's fatal casualties. African Americans saw combat at a higher percentage and suffered casualties at a higher rate. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. referred to the Vietnam War as a white man’s war, a black man’s fight. See: Vietnam in Military Statistics: A History of the Indochina Wars, 1772-1991, M. Clodfelter (pp. 243, 255) and Vietnam War: The Essential Reference Guide, J. Willbanks (pp. 4-5).

I also think there are prices too high to pay to save the United States. Conscription is one of them. Conscription is slavery, and I don't think that any people or nation has a right to save itself at the price of slavery for anyone, no matter what name it is called. We have had the draft for twenty years now; I think this is shameful. If a country can't save itself through the volunteer service of its own free people, then I say: Let the damned thing go down the drain!
Robert A. Heinlein
It seems like the simplest solution is to abolish the draft. That would be equal for men and women.Because we failed to pass the ERA, so legislatures, including Congress get to pick and choose when sex/gender identification should be a discriminating factor and when sex/gender identification should not be a discriminating factor without SCOTUS demanding a strict scrutiny standard or any legal burden be met to justify discrimination. The problem with the Military Selective Service Act discriminatory treatment is that even assuming that women should not be required do perform equal duties in fighting zones, the act is not narrowly constructed to prohibit those assignments. It obliged young men to put their names on a list to potentially put their personal lives on hold for years of service, and obliges young women to do absolutely nothing. Young women and young men can both put their lives on hold for their country even if they do different things in different places, and should be equally compelled or not compelled to put in the time and sacrifice.
There is no earthy reason for that kind of disparate treatment based on sex, or gender.
We don't have a draft to abolish. It takes an act of Congress to do anything by the same exact legislative process so abolishing something that does not exist is performative. What we have is a collection of data so that we could enact a draft efficiently and effectively if Congress deemed one necessary. The Military Selective Service Act is outdated anyway, so I really don't care what we do with the dinosaur bones. It seems like the simplest solution is to abolish the draft. So what should we do then? Delete the data?We don't have a draft to abolish. I do care that we do not treat young men as though they have a duty to perform and serve their country, but not young women.
Congress should completely overhaul the act, decide if they are even saving any valuable time by acquiring any data ahead of an actual draft bill. I suspect with modern technology the same lists can be generated rather quickly without the snail mail card I sent on my 18th birthday. Its pretty easy for the Federal Govt to find folks these days.So what should we do then? Delete the data?
