Inspired by this comment by REEFEDJIB in the abortion threads;
I would like to know if anyone reading this poll have ever changed or moderated their views on the legality of abortion,.... as a result of reading (or participating in) the 'abortion' threads.
I'm not making the vote public,... your vote will not be seen by others.
I figured you actually had a point to your post. My bad.
That's very odd,...
At my age, I don't change my mind very often,... nor very easily,... But I can explain my change with no problem at all. Gradual or not.
Awesome! That's how I intend them to be.Nope,.. your posts are self evident.
I have nothing further to add to them.
So you just posted what you did because you felt like typing?
My views have changed significantly on abortion in that they are now far more refined then they were when I first came to DP.
I've always been against abortion, however.
I'm reticent to associate myself with "pro-choice" movements or arguments as I generally do not agree with them. I still think the unborn are innocent humans and that abortion kills them. My problem is that enforcing a ban on abortion would be utterly unfeasible without draconian methods being employed against women.
Like it was for the 100+ years before Roe was decided and abortion was illegal?
did the medical technology for abortion even exist back then? this argument is a bit of an anachronism/red herring
Like it was for the 100+ years before Roe was decided and abortion was illegal?
Actually, yes.
We have had elective abortion illegal before in our nation's history,... and there were no 'draconian' methods employed against women at that time.
This is totally untrue. Women were subject to the authority of a patriarchal power structure. Women were expected to fulfill a certain role in society and the idea that they weren't treated like second class citizens is utter BS.
Ethereal,.. can you tell me how our laws against rape and child molestation are 'feasable' and how a law against elective abortions (by the same measure) would not be?
Please?
I would really like to see you break that down for me.
FYI,... I am just as defensive of and protective of woman,.. as I am the children they bear.
That said,... sleep happens (with my woman) ... more tomorrow!
I am here to eat bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble gum.
hahaha, i love that duke nukem video
Not Duke Nukem - see revised post.
