Why are europeans so clueless?

WHY are citizens of the United States so clueless! I think they've been brainwashed by their tabloid news networks.

Did anyone else hear about how the EU wants to make local cities pass noise ordinances? It's this kind of top-down micromanagement that gets Europe's economy into trouble.

Go and live in Brazil.
Then say that noise ordinance is a bad thing.

Believe me, after several weeks of not sleeping, you'll be gagging for a little ordinance!

Not all countries have the equivalent of your zoning laws - therefore there needs to be some other way of making life bearable.

The economy isn't everything. No matter how poor you are at least you can get free healthcare.

According to a "friend" of mine, who used to live in Canada til he got fed up with Canada (just to come to, of all places, America  ) Said that "Yes, Canada has "free health-care" but that's all they can have. He told of a story where a guy wasn't allowed to pay extra money in order to see a special surgeon (which isn't "free" by the ideals of Canadian "free health-care"). This particular ended up dying because he wasn't able to see this surgeon, with free health-care comes shitty health-care.

I'd rather live in "clueless" Europe with our human rights, help for the needy, health care and social protection, than in the land of ghettos, an apalling rich/poor divide, and Hollywood stars who can afford plastic t*ts while their neighbours in South Central can't afford to take their sick and needy to the doctor's office.

You really are clueless, if you think that's what America's all about. Hmmm, oh well, I could enlighten you on a few things, but what's the point? You'd just continue looking down you nose at the very people who saved your asses several times over the last century...

First off, welcome back Ms. Franklin... I was a bit worried I wasn't ever going to be called a United Statesian again!

Mud, dude she has a point. I live in North Carolina, in a town wedged between Chapel Hill, on of the richest areas in the United States and Durham certainly one of the poorest.

Not only that, but there's a certain place called "Fairview" which is a designated "Ghetto". Miles down the road (after a couple of turns and stuff) there is a neighborhood called "Grand Oaks" where, on average, people own 3 Houses. America is in economic trouble! Forget not, that our Golden Age was along time ago (During the time of the Vanderbilt's).

Do you know the reason why the Europeans "look down upon" us? They know for a fact, that if they offered help to revitalize our country, they'd get their hand slapped back into their face. I am sick and tired of the American mentality of "we're going to get it accomplished ourselves" we barely allow anyone to help us, it's UN-American! It's a known fact, that at first meetings Americans are supposedly "nicer" than the French, we take this as an offense, but that's just a culture difference. Like my horrid French teacher told us "In France, you're not going to be respected until you've done something respectable".

You did get one thing right, we're not only about Economics, Social Protection, and Health-Care.. but we're also about Global Domination.

Oh, I never said that a noise ordanance would be a bad thing. I just think its interesting that the EU will be making local noise laws. I wonder if there are any laws they believe should be left up to the individual cities.

Well, if your point is that everyone should live in the same size house, get paid the same at their jobs (if they happen to have one; hell pay the people who don't work the same too), and just have a society where everone has the same social ranking, then your point is not one I respect. This is America, where anyone who wants to work hard, play by the rules, and be resourceful can have three houses if they want..

Umm, well, you almost got me laughing again, but really, it's not funny. Socialism in any form is anti-American. If America seeks global domination through socialism, then I'm against it.

so FDR's new deal, which literaly saved our country, was anti-american....
Socialism in moderation is helpful. Straight up capitalism hurts.

Yes, FDR was the worst president of the 20th century because of his socialist policies. LBJ comes next in my book.

To say the new deal saved our country is really quite naive. If anything, it drove about a dozen nails into our collective coffin...

please ellaborate.
I will, but it's going to take some time. But just for starters, look at Social Security. It's bankrupting our government...

if anything could show that he wasn't the worst president, It's his stance on the war.

galenrox said:
that's, of course, after many years when it was THE ONLY section of the government to pull in a surplus, and it is not bankrupting the government, but vise versa, since the government has been borrowing from social security for years.
I don't want to dwell in the minutiae, but you know when it started, there were 39 people contributing for one person's social security. Now it's down to about 3 to 1. Soon it will be 1 to 1. It doesn't take a math whiz to figure out it's only a matter of time before it goes negative. And yet the obligations are HUGE...

What I've gathered from this is that a rich government is more important then a suffering populous. Hm....wonderful. How American. :usflag2:

galenrox said:
yeah, it's bankrupting itself, Bush is bankrupting every other section of the government. Get it straight.
In case you didn't know, there's no trust fund. All the money collected goes into the general fund. So no, it's bankrupting more than itself. But I agree that Bush is doing way more than he should in promoting his brand of socialism. He is quite possibly the worst president we've had in decades...

Open your eyes my friend this is America, you're not paid by how hard your job is or how hard you work, but how lucky you are to get a certain job and how much you'd weasle other people out of their own good fortunes to get there. So you're telling me, a singer.. lets say.. Ashley Simpson deserves the money she has? She barely ever sings at her concerts and when she does sing it's terrible, yet she makes Millions a year. Where-as a teacher who has dedicated 30 Years of their life to put up with the foul smelling kids of this era, may make a million dollars in their entire life.. you think that's fair?

I'll stop you here 'cause you're beginning to sound Andy Rooney-ish. Europeans help us? ROFLMAO!.
I'm glad I was able to give you a good laugh! Yeah, too bad we wouldn't be a nation if the Europeans didn't help us. Here's a nice little quote to explain what would of happened to our Founding Fathers, who committed treason

You laugh at the idea of help from Europe, but eventually.. during the next World War you'll have a different opinion. Europe is the only friends we've got, we should keep them, I don't trust Saudi Arabia.

Socialism in any form is anti-American
According to your quote we should eliminate Social Security, Welfare, Income Tax, Soup Kitchens etc etc.
How can you say anything is Anti-American.. American doesn't have a standard.. we're supposed to be Free and Open-Minded...

Here's lesson #1 in capitalism: You are paid only what it costs to replace you. If you're not making enough money in your life, get over it, or do something about it. This is America, where you're free to pursue happiness.

Exactly, and they did it under threat from Europe. But the French did help a little I'll admit.

Uh, in case you're not already aware, there already is a world war going on, and Europe is losing it.

Yep, get rid of 'em all, I say. When our founders were committing High Treason, not one of them were fighting for the things YOU were just talking about.

Oh, but America does have a standard, the Stars and Stripes, under which the former Traitors turned Founders rallied against English tyranny. They fought for freedom, defined in the Declaration of Independence, and never once worried about creating a welfare state. Their idea was to keep government out of the way so people could be free to enjoy their human dignity...

Thats right brother! And all those poor and dying people living in the projects are just lazy! Why drop out of school and get a job to support your family when you can let them die and pray that you get into an overpriced college? Work hard, anything is possible, even the impossible!

Yep, get rid of 'em all, I say. When our founders were committing High Treason, not one of them were fighting for the things YOU were just talking about.

Thats right brother! The Statue of Liberty is a lying piece of Frenchie metal! Give me your poor and huddled masses? Hell no! Get a job losers! It's easy! Thats why unemployment is at record highs! Because finding a job that can support you is so easy!

Thats right! I stand proud! Wave that plastic American flag that was...made in China..BUT ITS STILL AMERICAN! WOOOO! I loves me some propaganda! No need for welfare, the poor are poor because they choose to be! Stupid poor!

I think..you're a right winger? :rofl Oh well, flame me sir, I know you will.

But which do you view as more important, the life of someone who was fully developed, born, and started a life (however shitty it may be) to stay alive, or a fetus to become alive (or to stay alive in your opinion)?

The unborn child is utterly helpless and what you are talking about is the murder of the unborn child.

An adult human is NOT helpless. ALso, public hospitals all across the United States offer care to those who can't afford it.

FDRs new deal didn't save the US. Ironically, World War II did. FDR tried to violate the independence of the Supreme Court by packing it during the New Deal. You need a lesson in U.S. History.

It is, if you get out of bed before 10 am, and actually beat the street looking for one. Notice all the people coming here to work for a living.

Umm, according to his profile, Lenin has a job. His profile doesn't mention his hair. "Straighten up". Reference to his sexuality, his posture? And there is no reference to flying in his profile, so I can't comment on that. He does say he is a socialist, but nothing about "freakin", so I guess you get half a point there.

I am a socialist. I have short hair and a very good job. My posture is good, but my sexuality is not straight. I am not, as I type, "freakin".

Did you have an intelligent point to make?

Yes. Be a socialist all you want, just don't expect me to support you while you're doing it. You're in another country, so I know there's very little danger of that. As far as you being confused by my use of American colloquialisms, don't worry about it. If Mr. Lenin is an American he understood what I meant...
