Why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is dangerous

I am really starting to love just how much of a distraction Ocasio-Cortez has become for the Far Right. :)

For once, a liberal is right!she's distracting all righty!!

I have to agree with the bolded. If we don't address climate change and learn better ways to adapt there are going to be more deaths that possibly can be avoided. Or no?

Some, yes.

But the increase in human harm is and will be due more to where we are increasingly populating (flood zones) that previous generations did not - the coast, riverine areas, other flooding areas - and the fact that the population number itself is increasing now exponentially which increases the number of people with exposure to harm, and then there's the rise in drug resistant bacteria and new strains of viruses coupled with a rise in the number of anti-vaxxers, and of course the impact of poverty worldwide on that ever increasing population.

Climate change, increase in global temperature, is a factor but lesser so than the above.

I was waiting for someone to sexualize her on this thread. Congratulations.

A misinterpretation or misrepresentation of socialism and what that means in America is hardly impetus for the insanity she's stirred.

If people wanna get bunched about socialism, spare me the first term Rep. Sanders is over in the Senate with seniority. But no... we need five threads about her per day because of... socialism. I'm calling BS.

I'm not defending or agreeing with the reaction, just pointing out my observation of the root cause I've seen, because her race is something I personally haven't heard anyone IMRL mention or even elude to.

So she's qualified to run for president.

She's too young. Otherwise ... well .. let's just say the standards aren't what they used to be.

I find your assessment optimistic, to say the least. Let's try a little bigger picture here. First term Rep, hasn't even sat down. The Demon of Socialism in Congress. Sure. I'm supposed to believe that? Am I to be terrified of and hysterical about every first term Rep from here on out? Or is she special.

Wanna fight socialism? Start in the Senate. Then maybe, maybe, Reps with seniority. Be real. Spamming threads about a first term Rep who ain't sat down? Guess what that is.

Canada has only 35 million people. The U.S. has 330+ million people. Its not the same thing.

I didn't say it was the same thing, but the idea that UHC/single payer is somehow not possible, a fantasy, in this country is absurd. We already do it for seniors, and the VA and the poor, and lots of children.

My main problem with Alex is that she represents a direct threat to the United States economy.

I think both the left- and right-wing medias are embellishing the good and bad points of this candidate: Is she the Messiah? Is she the next Stalin? But more viewers will be driven to their news channels to watch the drama unfold. Which means more advertising dollars. With means more profits for the media owners.

All media are winners!

Ms. Cortez gets a high-paying job.

All citizens are hoodwinked.

The Dems need her to balance out the hag factor .

Clinton, Feinstein, Mcaskill, Warren, Hirono, Waters
Yeeeeeeeeeeesh. #Skin crawl.

Harris is pretty hot but she's really annoying and obnoxiously pompous

I'm giving Pelosi a pass because I bet back in the day she had it going on.

Too bad she is a lesbian. It is a shame.

I really don't get why the right cares either. She's a little loopy and definitely out to make a name for herself, like most young freshman congress members.

The right puts a bullhorn in front of her as if they think her stuff is as bad as Trump and she can be made into a target. I honestly do get the impression that it is the Trump supporters and not the right that has issues with her, but they almost seem forced. Or maybe they are just trying to find someone they can attack like Trump brings on himself.

She speaks a little quicker than she thinks and gets all over social media, but I think we all see a big difference between when she goes off and when Trump does.

Seems like a bad plan to me if that is the idea. If she's gonna burn herself, wait till she gives good ammo and have at it. Mostly she's just been naive and she hasn't been sworn in yet or anything.

Perhaps, but the President of the United States on one hand, Represntative-elect on the other.....hmmmm.....who do I expect more from?

Depends... THIS president or in general? Your expectations might be skewed.

As I wrote, I don't think anything she's done is that bad, especially considering her current role.

Shouldn't we expect more from the President than we do from a first term Rep who has yet to take office?

My main problem with Alex is that she represents a direct threat to the United States economy. When thinking of Alex I am always reminded of George McGovern, the Democrat nominee for president that got trounced by Richard Nixon.

McGovern left politics to start a Bed and Breakfast. This is a direct quote about his failed experience:

IMO AOC is even more dangerous than McGovern and Bernie Sanders. Has she honestly even balanced her own bank account? It doesn't seem like it. She didn't even have enough money to rent an apartment in Washington D.C.

Someone that has never even come close to running a business yet spends frivolously on designer clothing... that's dangerous, especially someone that was raised in an affluent neighborhood and family. Even Bernie Sanders and McGovern had kids to raise. They at least have some idea what it takes to balance a budget.

You heard it. People are going to die if we don't start addressing climate change!

What is she talking about it? Civil Rights already apply to the LGBTQ. Why is she advocating create new civil rights?

Someone like Alex only has knowledge about the U.S economy and politics through the classroom. She is an academic with little life experience trying to promote broad political theories into law. In reality, her proposals are quite radical. They are disconnected from reality and only would benefit a minority of the population.

None of that makes even remotely 'dangerous'.

Okay, I think you misread my post because that was a part of my argument. I absolutely wish we could expect more of the President. One would think that after 2 years in office, Twitter might have calmed down a little. I'm honestly still surprised by him sometimes, which is saying something.

She is special. She won a primary against a person that arguably could have been considered the eire apparent to Pelosi.

Civil rights already exist for LGBTQI people? Where were you when trump banned transgender people from serving in the military? And where were you when Pence and other far right homophobes demanded the death penalty for homosexuals? And where were you when far right homophobic bakers refused to bake cakes for gay couples? And where were you when the far right homophobes went ballistic when 2 lesbians kissed during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?

Good point. She hasn't even been sworn in and the far right are already spewing about her.

Maybe they are afraid of a compassionate, hispanic female who refuses to let trump grab her by the *****?

I am really starting to love just how much of a distraction Ocasio-Cortez has become for the Far Right. :) She hasn't even taken office yet as one of 435 Representatives and already the Far Right is up in arms against her.

the right wing media needs to build the bench for when Pelosi retires.

I'm told constantly by you and your fellow trump-enthusiasts that I should know the difference between made policy and campaign rhetoric. AOC hasn't done anything yet. She's a junior congresswoman with no other clout that her good looks and enthusiasm. Many a DC politician can't afford apartments in DC. Before Dick Army got rich from lobbyist money, he'd sleep on the couch in his office.

She's only a threat to you because she's an attractive woman in power. You feel emasculated because compared to you already in her young life she's already accomplished so much more than you. To you, she's a three time loser because she'll soon be a Democratic woman with legislative authority.
