Whoops, Curt Schilling Did it Again

So I've answered your question and you are just unable to "see it".

There is nothing bigoted and wrong in the OP.

I also asked you where exactly he said something wrong and bigoted, but instead of answering my question you just told me to read the OP again like somehow I was going to find something.

I believe companies should not concern themselves with the political views of their employees. I also think society itself shouldn't support employers firing people for things said on social media or anywhere outside of the work place. Lets see liberals protest things besides woman's bathrooms being open to guys.

Broadcasters usually have a clause in their talent contracts which hold them to not saying or doing stupid things that may reflect on them. So, Curt is SOL

I'm not on Facebook, or Twitter. I'm an old fart, but even I know that nowadays companies big and small warn their employees about Social Media, and what NOT to do. If the employee screws up on social media it's the same as if he/she screws up at the office. Screw up and it might cost that person his/her job.

Schilling's been warned many times. He knows he's in the spotlight 24/7. He represents ESPN. At home, away, in front of the camera.. Everywhere.

Politics has become like a religion in this country. How many chances did he think he was going to get? How important does he think his opinions on politics are? More important than his job?

Again, IMO this whole thing is weird.

He shared a FB meme and then made a comment that was neither offensive nor should it have been considered "controversial." ESPN basically wanted to shut him up or fire him. He's better off free of them if he wants to be an activist, which seems to be his calling.

Fox will be more than happy to take him, I am sure.

Hell has frozen over. I actually agree with Sarah Palin.

He was warned before, and it sounds like many times. And after his 'Hillary should be buried under a jail' comment of a few weeks ago ESPN looked the other way, again.

But enough is enough. If ANYONE is too stupid, or stubborn to hold his tongue and listen to what his employer is asking of him, then fire him. ESPN is a SPORTS network, they have the right to tell their employees not to make controversial political and social comments.

IMO, ESPN was not the place for him. The four-letter has gone out of its way to be pro-trans, giving Jenner an Espy even, and when you listen to their shows, it's clear that the on-air personalities steer clear of negative remarks, Left or Right. Schilling was the opposite. He's basically John Rocker with a couple World Series Rings. Like I said, he needs to be on Fox.

On Fox news? Oh yeah, he'll fit right in.

But I doubt Fox sports would even put up with his nonsense. Not this many times, not over and over again. Fox sport has to answer to sponsors, advertisers, and the sports leagues too. NBA All-star game threatened to get out of NC because of this kind of thing.

It's not just what he's saying, and doing. It's also partly ego. His bosses are telling him to STFU, but he doesn't listen, and he keeps putting his foot in his mouth. You piss off our boss over and over? They are the boss, they don't like to be ignored.

They're smarter.

But anyway Oberman has been fired a few times.

But yeah, the poor cons are picked on and ostracized and banished from society.

Olbermann hasn't been fired for his opinions directly. He has been fired for his ratings though. I like him at ESPN. He should have stuck to sports.

Bill Maher made a funny, in a sad way, remark the other day. Paraphrasing: You can make fun of Kim Kardashian's ass all you want, but if you dare make fun of her step father's tits you'll get banned from TV.

It's the crazy PC Agenda that's infected every area of American life (and the West as a whole). Now, everybody's scared to death of losing their reputation/jobs, and so they have to be extra careful in order to not offend anybody.

He was awful, on ESPN, and elsewhere. He is one of those people who think sports fans like me tune in to hear HIM, not to hear about the sports he suppose to be reporting on. I'm not Vince Scully fan either. Same reason. IMO it's the game, not about the people calling, or reporting on the game.

And yes he has been suspended for his comments. And technically maybe not fired, but not resigned instead of being fired.

Yup nothing bigoted about the image in the op

Count me in with Henrin. What exactly due Schilling say that was bigoted? That grown men shouldn't be using the bathroom with young girls?

Please be specific TheDemSocialist. What are you reading that we aren't?

He didn't just have an opinion, he went out of his way to launch a tirade against a random trans blogger, who then endured tons of hate speech from schilling's followers. Bottom line, it should be damn clear to any celebrity that anything they do to the common folk can bring serious consequences. In addition, espn is fully within their right to fire him because it makes them look terrible to keep him on. He knew he represents them

Now, my problem with this is espn should've known he would embarrass them eventually and never hired him in the first place

When liberal entertainers spew their opinions, the cons scream 'shut-up and sing'. When con entertainers give their opinions it's 'speak up' and if others don't like it, too bad? Can't have it both ways. Both sides need to shut-up, or neither.

Anyway Curt was suspended last year, and I'm sure WARNED a bunch of times by his employer to walk lightly and be careful. I'm sure he was told to err on the side of caution from now on when it comes to politics and his opinions on society.

He seems like a smart guy, so why he wouldn't take those warnings seriously is very weird. He figures his opinions and thoughts on society and politics are more important than his job? Weird.

his thoughts on society are what makes him not a smart guy. Thus this is not surprising

So you don't believe that a business should fire someone for whatever reason they want? What kind of libertarian are you?

actually he says exactly that in every thread about the NC law. He even wants to repeal the civil rights act

and now he's saying schilling should be immune from being fired for harassing some random blogger and bringing shame to his employer. Tons of people get fired over a lot less, and that is hilarious that he thinks espn is remotely liberal

clearly his hypocrisy stems from his hatred of lgbt only

But....ESPN is acting in a free market way by protecting their brand. Surely you believe in the free market....

he believes in whichever market punishes lgbt the most

You want no employment or housing protection for the identity of any minorities but you want employment protection laws that allow a dunce like schilling to humiliate his employer? I think everyone can see that your prejudices are driving this

probably because left wing politics isn't pure hate, although in times of national hysteria, such as after 9/11, there were a few. Bill maher and donahue lost their shows.

Also because human rights is not politics at all, which is why so many conservatives support gay rights now. How's it feel to not even be able to credibly blame liberals for your prejudices no longer being celebrated?

Schilling is a clown anyway, he lost most of his money starting up a game company, then billed the taxpayers of Rhode Island for it.
