Who Won Last Night's Debate?

Who Won the Debate?

First of all, Amy is not my choice for the nomination.

I thought she did well last night by being rather aggressive in stating her case for moderation, and also delivered the strongest critique to Elizabeth Warren. Eventually Warren is going to have to spell out exactly how her policies can be enacted...better now than later. jmo

I think the ticket is going to require a mid westerner, and I think she made a case for herself.

I like Pete a lot...and if I had to say who had the best debate, I'd pick him.

I can certainly grant that she caught Warren a bit off balance, but Bernie swooped in and saved it by explaining what she would not; probably her strongest moment, but it's not saying all that much.

As to Pete, I just don't see it. It was the usual serving of eyeroll worthy platitudes with the added novelty this time of making attacks against progressive policies, largely on the basis of some nebulous assertion of their being divisive, most of which fell completely flat after Bernie and Warren responded. I suppose he had a couple of strong moments against Tulsi, but that's about it.

A wide range of opinions here.
For myself I appreciated Pete's thought on the Supreme Court. Would like to see term limits with the justices.

Overall though, I would vote for anyone of the 12 if they ran against the man with orange makeup.

IMHO, the winner of the debate was the one left off your damned poll: Amy Klobuchar.

Poll incoming. The less memorable candidates will be grouped together under "Other" due to forum constraints.

Donald J. Trump

After watching the debate and reading the aftermath of it, I voted Trump.

I believe the Democratic Party because they allowed their far left wing of their party to take such influence in their ideology, Trump is the winner.

Always funny to watch the people who constantly go on unhinged rants about how much they hate the Democratic Party expect others to actually care about what they think the Democrats should do.

"Senator Thankyou" won the debate.
The thing I remember most was the fact that every single time a candidate was just about to get to the meat of their point, they'd get interrupted by an almost mechanical sounding "Senator, thank you", or "Thank you, Senator", or "Secretary" or whatever their title was...thus "Senator Thankyou" almost got more airtime than any of the candidates.
It was an overly long flurry of competing impotent "GOTCHA!" sound bites all designed to work as distraction from even the foggiest notion that we are dealing in complex issues which require careful, well thought out answers and a great deal of cooperation.

The Democratic Party thinks it had something to do with the layout of this debate but in reality, it had nothing to do with the layout of the debate.
CNN is claiming responsibility for the layout of this turd, but they weren't as involved as they think they were.

Nope, TWITTER and the TWITTER mindset and attention span is what is responsible for the layout of this debate.
There wasn't even a need to broadcast it on TV at all, when the best format would have been for it to be a live text stream on social media, with a tiny live video window where you could see and hear them if you wanted to. But mostly, we listened to a series of live action enhanced Twitter textfarts.

The Republican Party claims they had nothing to do with the layout of the debate, but whether they know it or not, they did...even if they didn't intend to.
Everything about this most recent debate was designed and laid out in homage to Donald Trump's favorite medium.

I'm not aiming this at the Trumpers, or even the Republicans.
This is leveled at you, you Democrats, you lefties, you liberals, you folks on the center-left side of the fence, you mavens of the DNC apparatus.

No more clown cars, please.
No more ambushes.
No more gotchas.
This madness must stop.

I think the fake Mexican beat out the fake American Indian by a nose hair.

The poll sucks.

Of course you did.

America isn't ready to be shafted by a Socialist POTUS. Never will be.

The idiots just don't realize that a socialist nominee guarantees a Trump victory and that doesn't even take into account that Howard Schultz said he would run as an independent if a socialist was the nominee, further bringing on a Trump second term.

Well, to be fair, there is an argument that some (IMO too many) democrats ascribe to - that having debates and attacking each other in any way weakens them all...and helps Trump.

Personally I think that's bull****, and ideally every single candidate in a primary should have a challenger so they can't just coast into the nomination.

Well, it's really nice to have those clips for future advertising.

IMHO, the winner of the debate was the one left off your damned poll: Amy Klobuchar.

Why did she win the debate? I am totally clueless why anyone would write her in.

She's the Democrat's Susan Collins. At least Pete Buttigieg has a good point once in a while.

Klobuchar is the answer to a question no one asked.

Personally, I think both politicians and supporters need reality checks on both sides. The presidency is not a dictatorship. Using just your example of term limits on Supreme Court Justices (which I am not generally against if there was a bipartisan way of changing it), this is just not reality and never will be. So, talking about it as a candidate or a supporter, is just wasting the planet's valuable oxygen supply at a time when the left is trying to claim the environmental mantel. Candidates should keep their ideas to being based on reality and supporters shouldn't be naive enough to think that because a candidate mentions something that is not realistically possible that it will ever become policy.

Always funny to watch the people who constantly go on unhinged rants about how much they hate the Democratic Party expect others to actually care about what they think the Democrats should do.

And vice versa. Do you think the right really cares how much Trump pushes all of your buttons, causing you guys to run around like chickens with their heads cut off? We already get it, you suffer from TDS.

Pretty much all debates on both sides are a worthless waste of airtime that they could be showing Gilligan's Island reruns.

Although, gay bashing Gabbard sounded the least retarded out the group, she'll get shafted by the MSM... So I'm going to have to go with the king of the Jews, because he wins by default.

America isn't ready to be shafted by a Socialist POTUS. Never will be.

What do you mean by socialist? Doesn't the current president support public education?

Oh, I know trump’s cult doesn’t care about what he does, but considering that there’s no serious opposition to him from the Republican politicians too terrified of Jim Bob, 28, of Bum**** Kentucky who flies a confederate flag and thinks America stopped being great when minorities got the right to vote.....

The fact that you cultists can excuse anything and everything he does doesn’t mean anyone else should go along with it, and it sure as hell doesn’t mean anyone should vote for the democrat who appeals most to people who spend their time shrieking about how much they hate democrats.

My my. Please take a chill pill. I'm concerned about your blood pressure.

I haven't watched one yet. They are kind of pointless at least this far out. Why get worked up either way when the establishment undoubtedly has already sold the slot to somebody anyway.
