Trump says he won the war on Christmas, but who started the war? When I was younger, graduated high school in 64, there was no war on Christmas. People wished you well by saying Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, or in short, have a good or happy holidays to cover both holidays. I have used all three at one time or another, never thinking that any of them made me a warrior in the war against Christmas. All at once several years ago we began to hear from the Evangelicals that using anything but Merry Christmas made you evil and that you were at war with Christmas. I am a Catholic and an officer in my church, but the one thing that makes this humorous to me is that according to scholars December 25th is not even the birth date of Christ. I think that the so called war is stupid and the only ones winning this war seem to be the ones started it to stir up their congregations and bring in more donations. So to me the Evangelicals are the ones who started a war that no one else at the time knew was being fought for purely monetary reason.

I see it as an effort to galvanize political support from religious institutions. If I believe that democrats are waging war against my traditional values, I will be more likely to vote republican. The war on Christmas is a political tool, much like the war on freedom of religion.

1) It is made up Fox News bull**** that they have promoted for years.

2) There is not and has never been a war on Christmas.

3) One could argue that it is in fact anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim rhetoric from Fox News and its supporters. Funny enough, Jews and Muslims in general do not care.. only the fanatics at Fox News seem to see a problem.

As a Christian, I have never experienced this "War on Christmas", outside the rantings of the attention starved anti-PC crowd.

Good question but there was definitely a war on Christmas. Who started it, I don't know.

Not to go too deep into the subject, but it's origins are rooted in Marxism. Religion, especially Christianity, is seen as the natural enemy of socialism and communism, therefore it's vital that religious symbolism be removed from public view and eliminated from the public's consciousness as mush as possible.

Who started telling their employees that they were not allowed to wish people a merry Christmas. Who was responsible for schools changing Christmas vacation into being called something else.
