I sometimes wonder if Trump isn't a Manchurian Candidate for the Republican Party. Way way way way back in the 1980s, he was a fairly staunch Democrat. Could be that he planned to become the worst President ever so as to discredit the Republicans going forward.
Of course, I have absolutely zero evidence that such is the case. Just a bit of wild speculation.
I wish it was that simple. Reality TV has been used as a kind of sous-vide coooking method to cook the brains of the average low information voter, and Trump is a master of the genre, perhaps THE master.
The list of advantages of having a deeply conditioned constituency that responds to carefully curated stimuli dispensed by data mining networks and hostile foreign adversaries is too large to describe in a single post.
We're talking about the manufacture of consent on steroids.
Reality TV is a form of mental conditioning. But it goes much deeper than just reality TV, which is just a platform. Once it is connected to social media, it is still a platform but the closer one looks, the more tentacles appear.
