What's funny is that listening to some liberals the GOP has become a far right wing party where the fringe on the extreme have taken over

Two sides of the same coin methinks.

listening to some moon bat lefties, they think Obama is as conservative as Bush

Obama is pretty centrist, not as bland as Hillary but still, to say Romney is more liberal? He changes positions all the time, but I'm not aware of any of them at any variation that have been more to the left than Obama's views. Some conservatives used to lament that *Bush* was not conservative enough, leading to the anti SSM amendment failure. If they think so about Romney, it's probably just out of disappointment that the country is becoming more and more not the way they want it to be, and that he's to the left of Fred Phelps, having little to do with Obama.

let me consult the etch n sketch,ok it says today he is a conservative.

I would say Obama, but not by much sadly. The GOP has gone to the extreme right, don't let the Romney nomination hide that fact. The republican brass is against this movement very much because they know that view can't win elections but the tea party movement has shifted the line. So now Obama who is a centrist in my view is considered a socialist by them.

they are both authoritarians... neither are very liberal.... neither are radicals, so they are similarly conservative.

Obama is a bit more progressive than Romney, though

I voted Obama, though Romney is neither liberal nor conservative. Rick Santorum (though I don't care for him) nailed it when he called him "Etch A Sketch." Romney's positions are all temporary. He tests the political winds and takes his position based on whichever way they're blowing best for him. I used to call him the "blowing with the wind" candidate, but "Etch A Sketch" is good. Thank you, Mr. Santorum. I know Republicans who plan to write in Ron Paul, and, frankly, I don't blame them.

I’m thinken that Ron Paul is setting up for an independent run.

Just to clarify before I go a bit bonkers....

Centrist in ideology or Centrist in terms of eventual tangable policy decisions?

He supports a lot of the same things Obama supports. He is either as liberal or slightly less liberal than Obama.

What's funny is that listening to some liberals the GOP has become a far right wing party where the fringe on the extreme have taken over

The GOP has been taken over by the extreme right-wing; and I'm not a liberal. The extremes took over in 1979 and it's been the same ever since.

The candidates have chosen or are moving toward the big bell-curve base at the center.

This is not surprising, as when the great majority at the center chooses which of the two evils to support in November, the candidates like to think they'll choose the more lesser one than the less lesser one.

The last thing either candidate wants to do is covertly be either an obvious liberal or an obvious conservative.

And, of course, each opposition wants to paint their opponent as far to the opponent's true wing as possible, away from the big voter base.

For Obama, he's "moved" more to the middle ever since the conservative Repubs captured the House and added more members to the Senate. For Obama, this was a survivalist tactic.

For Romney, he's long known where the voter base is, and also, in a two-dog race against pretty much any Dem., that he can count on the conservative base for support.

But, I don't think it's rocket-science material to know where each candidate would truly be if they had a super majority of their wing in both houses: Obama, liberal, Romney, conservative.

So, the answer to the OP question is, Obama, no-brainer.

Policy decisions.

Romney is a Cameleon, meaning he changes color depending upon the environment, he will say anything in order to get elected. When he ran for Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts he was more liberal than him. Now that he's the presumptive nominee of the Republican party he says he's a conservative.

He is a liar!!!

I have a set of questions:

If Obama wins this November, which party will win most of the midterm elections in 2014?

If Romney wins this November, which party will win most of the midterm elections in 2014?

If Romney wins this November, who will be the GOP presidential nominee in 2016?

I have a set of questions:

If Obama wins this November, which party will win most of the midterm elections in 2014?

Most likely Republican. No one is going to be happy with the situation in Washington, regardless of who wins, and so they'll be looking at the party not in power.

If Romney wins this November, which party will win most of the midterm elections in 2014?

Most likely Democrats. See above.

If Romney wins this November, who will be the GOP presidential nominee in 2016?

Romney.

Now I have one: Since this is a poll about which one is most "liberal", define: liberal.

In general, conservative means keeping the status quo, and liberal means one who supports progressive change.

I do think Obama is more liberal than Romney, but that doesn't mean I support Romney.

I want Republicans to win the midterms in 2014. I want the GOP nominee in 2016 to be someone much more conservative than Romney.

Liberal axiom:

Romney changing political perspective = liar.

Obama changing political perspective = evolving.

Got it...
