Who here is still glad we didn't do a 2 month, nationwide, hard lock down like China did back in April/May

Korea handled the virus properly.

America 350,778 deaths

Korea 900 deaths

They didn't have to pay out $3 trillion dollars in stimulus or close their businesses.

I wish our American government was as competent.

Asking for a friend.

1. Had China done a proper quarantine of the Wuhan area the moment they became aware of the viral threat, the entire world would have been spared the pandemic. So there is no such thing as China doing a "hard lockdown." They lied, covered up, did everything they could to pretend nothing was going on.

2. IMO there should not have been any form of "lockdown" of the United States aside from bans against international travel, and setting up medical screening points at all ports of entry. Then set up funding for medical research, medical support services, and proper interstate tracking. (Much of which was done.)

3. What should have been done at the State level was testing, then isolation of those who showed symptoms. In any locale where symptoms arose the local government health services should have initiated contact tracking. Those exhibiting symptoms should have been isolated either in hospitals or special quarantine sites (like the ones provided by the Federal Government's efforts in the Javitts Convention Center NYC and on the Medical Ship.) NOT sending people to old folks homes where at least 1/3 of deaths occurred among what we now know are the most vulnerable. Any possible treatments should have been tried/tested.

However, we panicked (or should I say the Media created a panic) and took all sorts of steps to undermine faith in the central government, which really had little control over what State's chose to do.

It's not possible to trust the numbers we saw from others countries like Korea, China, Russia because we don't know what they knew going in. We know China lied about the virus and that they didn't share with the U.S. important information. The Virus came from China and perhaps on purpose at least from their mishandling of the measures to stop the spread.

We needed a harder lockdown at the beginning until testing was ready. We needed time to learn about the virus, develop testing, and implement testing. We needed to test out the wazoo because:
1. Asymptomatic people can spread the virus
2. Symptomatic people can spread the virus for two days before they get symptoms

Both can spread the virus for a week or so.

We still haven't got testing out the wazoo in place.

Then there's prevention:

You and Trump knew the virus was dangerous from the beginning but you both constantly downplayed the seriousness of it and actively argued against following pandemic safety procedures. Yes this is your fault and it's fair to compare us to other countries.
